Mumbai: Saturday, 30 Nov 2024 SEMINAR ON WOMEN EMPOWERMENT THROUGH NCC The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate of Maharashtra, in collaboration with HSNC University, hosted a seminar on “Women Empowerment through NCC” at KC College auditorium, Mumbai. The Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Shri CP Radhakrishnan, graced the event as the chief guest, alongside DG NCC Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh. The Governor underscored NCC’s transformative role in empowering women to lead and contribute meaningfully, while Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh shared inspiring success stories of women excelling through NCC. Dr. Hemlata Bagla, Vice Chancellor of HSNC University, delivered the welcome address, followed by Provost Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, who outlined the seminar’s objectives. Speeches by Mrs. Deepti Mohil Chawla, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence, and Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin added valuable perspectives to the theme. Lectures by Dr. Henna John, Major Anita Jethy, and Prof. Col. Hemlata K. Bagla delved into empowerment, safety, well-being, skill-building, and leadership development among NCC girl cadets. The seminar also featured a self-defense demonstration, ‘Walk Without Fear,’ by NGO Mission Fightback, led by Col & Mrs. Rohit Mishra. Maj Gen Yogender Singh, ADG NCC Directorate Maharashtra, expressed gratitude to the Governor, speakers, and participants for their contributions. The NCC’s initiatives have steadily increased female enrollment, equipping women with skills and confidence to excel in diverse fields such as defense, education, and business, while fostering leadership potential. International Atomic Energy Agency’s 3rd Research Coordination Meeting on Radiation Effects in Polymers for Medical Devices at HSNC University, Mumbai HSNC University, Mumbai, is honored to host the 3rd Research Coordination Meeting (RCM) of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Coordinated Research Project (CRP) on “Radiation Effects on Polymer Materials Commonly Used in Medical Devices.” Taking place from November 18 to 22, 2024, this prestigious event brings together eminent scientists from 16 countries to drive innovations in global healthcare. Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hemlata K. Bagla, India’s Chief Scientific Investigator for this project and a pioneer in Nuclear and Radiochemistry at KC College since 1997, the meeting highlights HSNC University’s commitment to advancing international collaboration and promoting the peaceful applications of atomic energy in healthcare. The meeting, chaired by Dr. Valeriia Starovoitova, Scientific Secretary of the IAEA, the meeting features researchers from 16 nations, including Egypt, Argentina, Poland, Brazil, France, Tunisia, Portugal, Russia, Turkey, Serbia, the USA, and India. Discussions focus on advancements, challenges, and future prospects in understanding radiation effects on polymers, underscoring the global importance of this research. The Honorable Governor of Maharashtra, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, hosted the international delegates at the Raj Bhavan on the second day of the meeting. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to leveraging atomic energy for healthcare, highlighting its role in nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, and radiation diagnostics to tackle global health issues like cancer.
