"The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you." 🎒 Hello Connections, As this semester approaches its end, it cannot be without reflecting on the transformative opportunity of volunteering with the incredible team at Door Step School Foundation, Pune, alongside my amazing teammates- Anjali Ajesh, Ananya Mehta, Dhwani Bhavankar, and Hasitha Reddy eppalapalli. It has been a truly enriching, heartwarming and inspiring experience, courtesy of the Service-Learning course at SIT- Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune. Our volunteering experience with Door Step School Foundation (DSSF), Pune provided us with a platform to hone and implement our technical and interpersonal skills to solve real-world problems. The journey has been unparalleled and a building-block for personal and professional development. It has helped us develop a positive approach towards community engagement and the pivotal role that technology can play in supporting initiatives at the grass-root level, especially in the domains of education, nutrition and healthcare. Our learnings from the past six months have been manifold: 🔹 Technical Proficiency: Enhanced skills in MS Excel (Data analysis, Formulas), Kobo Toolbox (form creation), and Python (data restructuring), along with app design knowledge. 🔹 Data-Driven Decision-Making: Developed expertise in data cleaning, visualization, and analysis for actionable insights in health and nutrition indicators. 🔹 Creative Design: Improved digital content creation using Canva and PowerPoint for presentations, social media posts, and visual storytelling. 🔹 Communication Excellence: Strengthened translation, communication and narrative skills, ensuring culturally sensitive and engaging content creation. 🔹 Training Skills: Conducted effective training sessions on tools like Excel, Word, Canva and SlidesGo. 🔹 Project Management and Resourcefulness: We learnt efficient task coordination, time management, and deadline adherence across multiple initiatives, developing solutions and tools that kept in mind, the specific project's objectives, resource availability and ease of training and use. 🔹 Community Empathy: Interacting with children from migrant communities deepened our understanding of their educational challenges, helping us design tailored, impactful solutions that align with the NGO’s mission to make education, health and nutrition, accessible and meaningful. As a team, this journey not only strengthened our technical and interpersonal skills but also reinforced our commitment to creating a positive social impact. Our heartfelt thanks to SYMBIOSIS INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY, our faculty mentors- Dr. Shruti S. Ma'am and Dr. Sachin R. Gaikwad Sir, and Mr. Vishal Jain from Door Step School Foundation. We are beyond grateful to the entire team at Door Step School Foundation for their relentless efforts and thoughtful initiatives, and for welcoming us to be part of this impactful journey. 📚
