"The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you." 🎒 Hello Connections, As this semester approaches its end, it cannot be without reflecting on the transformative opportunity of volunteering with the incredible team at Door Step School Foundation, Pune, alongside my amazing teammates- Anjali Ajesh, Ananya Mehta, Dhwani Bhavankar, and Hasitha Reddy eppalapalli. It has been a truly enriching, heartwarming and inspiring experience, courtesy of the Service-Learning course at SIT- Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune. Our volunteering experience with Door Step School Foundation (DSSF), Pune provided us with a platform to hone and implement our technical and interpersonal skills to solve real-world problems. The journey has been unparalleled and a building-block for personal and professional development. It has helped us develop a positive approach towards community engagement and the pivotal role that technology can play in supporting initiatives at the grass-root level, especially in the domains of education, nutrition and healthcare. Our learnings from the past six months have been manifold: 🔹 Technical Proficiency: Enhanced skills in MS Excel (Data analysis, Formulas), Kobo Toolbox (form creation), and Python (data restructuring), along with app design knowledge. 🔹 Data-Driven Decision-Making: Developed expertise in data cleaning, visualization, and analysis for actionable insights in health and nutrition indicators. 🔹 Creative Design: Improved digital content creation using Canva and PowerPoint for presentations, social media posts, and visual storytelling. 🔹 Communication Excellence: Strengthened translation, communication and narrative skills, ensuring culturally sensitive and engaging content creation. 🔹 Training Skills: Conducted effective training sessions on tools like Excel, Word, Canva and SlidesGo. 🔹 Project Management and Resourcefulness: We learnt efficient task coordination, time management, and deadline adherence across multiple initiatives, developing solutions and tools that kept in mind, the specific project's objectives, resource availability and ease of training and use. 🔹 Community Empathy: Interacting with children from migrant communities deepened our understanding of their educational challenges, helping us design tailored, impactful solutions that align with the NGO’s mission to make education, health and nutrition, accessible and meaningful. As a team, this journey not only strengthened our technical and interpersonal skills but also reinforced our commitment to creating a positive social impact. Our heartfelt thanks to SYMBIOSIS INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY, our faculty mentors- Dr. Shruti S. Ma'am and Dr. Sachin R. Gaikwad Sir, and Mr. Vishal Jain from Door Step School Foundation. We are beyond grateful to the entire team at Door Step School Foundation for their relentless efforts and thoughtful initiatives, and for welcoming us to be part of this impactful journey. 📚

At Bitwise Foundation, we believe in the transformative power of reading. Through the Smiling Books Library Program, led by Akshar Paaul, we’ve enhanced the reading capabilities of children, providing them access to a wide range of books. By partnering with Vanasthali Rural Development Center and Door Step School Foundation, we were able to create a space where children can immerse themselves in books, helping them build confidence and foster a lifelong passion for learning.  On Vachan Prerna Din, we reflect on how these ongoing initiatives continue to inspire young minds, helping them grow, explore, and shape a brighter future.  Explore our initiatives here: https://lnkd.in/d2M_BZYC  #BitwiseCSR #NGOProjectShowcase

  • ✨ Happy International Day of the Girl Child! ✨ In Maharashtra, 98.6% of young girls begin their educational journey in primary school. However, as they progress, the path becomes challenging, with a 36% drop at secondary level and over 50% not reaching higher secondary. 🚸 At Door Step School Foundation, we believe every girl’s dream deserves a chance to thrive! 🌸 In 2023-24, we proudly supported the education of over 20,000 girls, providing them with the guidance, resources, and encouragement they need to stay in school and achieve their dreams. 🎒📚 Together, we’re not just changing statistics — we’re changing futures. 🌟 Let's continue breaking barriers and ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to reach her full potential! 💪👧 #InternationalDayOfTheGirl #EducationForAll #EmpowerGirls #doorstepschoolfoundation

For around two decades, Door Step School Foundation has worked with the families of Chakrapani Vasti, encouraging children to focus on education instead of working on the streets. With the ongoing support of Bitwise Foundation, children are now attending school regularly, and their outlook toward learning has shifted positively. By providing necessary resources and steady support including school transportation, we’re helping them build a future that once seemed out of reach. Small but meaningful changes are taking root every day. To know more visit: https://lnkd.in/dhZRqfV8 #BitwiseCSR #CSRImpact

  • 🎉Celebrating Success at Dattawadi Community Learning Center!! Special classes held on Saturdays and Sundays provided an invaluable opportunity for students preparing for scholarship exams. Parents like Shraddha Kadam expressed their gratitude, noting, “The teachers broke down complex topics into simple concepts, which helped my son achieve great results!” Recently, we celebrated the achievements of students who cleared the scholarship exams for the 2023-24 academic year. The event was a heartwarming gathering attended by students, their families, and esteemed guests including Mr. Dhananjay Tokekar, Mr. Amit Khare, and Ms. Vanshree Wankar from Alfa Laval. During the celebration, our guests engaged with parents, emphasizing the importance of dedicating time each day to connect with their children about their education. This communication is vital for fostering a supportive learning environment. To honor the hard work and dedication of our meritorious students, Alfa Laval generously presented each of them with a new bicycle—a wonderful symbol of new beginnings and the journey ahead in their educational pursuits. This was reported by @Sunita Bhleroa from Door Step School Foundation. Here’s to the bright futures of our students! 🌟

  • 🎉 Celebrating Builders Honored for Supporting the Education and Welfare of Children at Construction Sites In a remarkable effort to recognize and encourage exemplary practices in the construction industry, CREDAI-Pune Metro recently hosted the fourth annual ‘Pride Best Facility Awards’ ceremony at the Rathi Auditorium in Pune. This prestigious event celebrated the contributions of builders who have gone above and beyond in providing essential facilities, health services, skill training, and growth opportunities to their construction workers.' As a crucial partner in this endeavor, Door Step School Foundation (DSSF) has been working tirelessly across several construction sites in and around Pune, focusing on the education and care of children from construction workers' families. Through literacy and study classes, along with Creche facilities, DSSF ensures that the children of these workers receive the education and care they deserve, right at the construction sites. These efforts are supported either fully or partially by the builders, who recognize the importance of such initiatives. We are thrilled to share that several builders, who have been instrumental in supporting DSSF’s mission, were honored at this year’s CREDAI Awards: VILAS JAVDEKAR DEVELOPERS (Project Yashwin Urbo Centro) - Gold Award in the Category for 101 to 300 Workers VTP Realty (Project VTP Alter) - Gold Award in the Category for 21 to 100 Workers B.G SHIRKE CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY PVT.LTD (Project PMC River Revival) - Special Category Award for Crèche Facilities Panchshil Realty (Project Vantage Tower) - Special Category Award for Health Services These accolades reflect the builders' commitment to creating an environment where the welfare of construction workers' families is prioritized. By supporting initiatives such as awareness creation among construction workers, enrolling their children in schools, and providing education, health, and nutrition support at some of their sites, these builders are setting a high standard in the industry. We hope this recognition encourages more builders in Pune to take similar steps, ensuring the well-being of construction workers' families, with a particular focus on the health and education of the younger children living at these sites. Let’s continue to build not just structures, but stronger communities that support and uplift every member involved. This report was brought to us by our colleague Swati Shende. #Doorstepschoolfoundation #DSSF #ChildWelfare #EducationForAll #BuildersWithHeart #CREDAIPuneMetro #CommunitySupport #EmpoweringChildren #SocialImpact #SustainableDevelopment
