We are all set to begin the much-anticipated Advanced Case Writing and Teaching Workshop today at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Services, New Delhi and to officially launch the Amrit Gyaan Kosh portal. Organized by the Capacity Building Commission in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) and the Stanford Leadership Academy for Development (LAD), this workshop brings together 60 faculty members from Civil Services Training Institutes across India. Over the next two weeks, participants will engage with a panel of instructors and mentors, including: ✅ R. Kent Weaver (Professor Emeritus of Pubic Policy at Georgetown University) ✅ Blair Cameron (World Bank) ✅ Dinsha Mistree (Research fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University) Key Objectives of the Program: 1️⃣ Enhancing Case-Writing Skills: Empowering faculty to develop impactful case studies. 2️⃣ Producing Teaching Cases: Creating a repository of cases for use at Civil Services Training Institutes and other institutions. 3️⃣ Improving Teaching Skills: Equipping faculty with the skills required for effective case-based teaching. 4️⃣ Identifying Master Trainers: Selecting participants to serve as future trainers and contributors to Amrit Gyaan Kosh. CBC is continually exploring innovative approaches to strengthen the practices and culture of learning. Today at the Advanced Case Writing and Teaching Workshop (Cohort 2), participants engaged in a role-playing activity focused on judicial reform in Bangladesh. The session, based on the case “Go or No-Go? Voting on the World Bank’s Proposed Legal and Judicial Reform Project in Bangladesh”, was designed to simulate real-world decision-making processes. Participants assumed roles of key stakeholders, including policymakers, financial institutions, and local representatives, to evaluate the potential implementation of a complex legal reform program. This exercise provided a practical approach to understanding stakeholder dynamics, negotiation challenges, and decision-making in a high-stakes policy context. Through role-play, participants practiced applying their case analysis skills to real-world scenarios, enhancing their ability to teach cases effectively. In the final sessions of the second roundtable of Viksit Panchayat, the participating organisations listed out the set of activities to form the 10-week action plan for kickstarting the capacity building intervention on grassroots to strengthen the local governance arm. Manmohan Singh, CEO, Aspirational Bharat Collaborative, who led and moderated the discussions for two days, kindled the ecosystem of creating a collaborative action at National level. He summarized the discussions and aligned all partners on the next immediate actions. R Balasubramaniam, Member HR, CBC asked the partners to align efforts with the 4S mantra given by the Hon’ble PM – working with a broader Scope, managing a large Scale, ensuring Speed in building the capacity of Panchayats, while maintaining the Standards of our work. He also highlighted that capacity building efforts should incorporate diverse modes of learning, including experiential, relational, and informational methods. Discussions concluded that this project aims to strengthen Panchayat governance structures by equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed for effective self-governance.
