🌍 Exciting News for Indian #CDR - #Purchase Alert!
We’re thrilled to announce Alt Carbon's historic partnership with NextGen CDR at the inaugural edition of the Futures Summit today 🎉
We deeply believe that this first-of-a-kind partnership will have a catalytic impact on the Indian CDR story and emphasise our belief about India’s ability to lead the sector, at the highest quality, cheapest cost and largest scale (specially with respect to #Enhanced #Rock #Weathering).
On a personal level, Sparsh and I as 4th generational tea planters have been trying to revive the tea estates of Darjeeling for the last few years now. Our initial aim was to transform our family’s heritage tea gardens from at risk of climate change impact to the frontier of climate action through our carbon removal pathway of Enhanced Weathering. However, through this partnership with NextGen CDR (which is a Joint Venture between Mitsubishi Corporation and South Pole), we plan to extend the same aim across the tea estates of North Eastern India, and later stretch to other crops like rice, bamboo, etc.
More than anything, this partnership is a symbol of #hope. Of Second Chances. Of New Chapters. Not only for the tea estates of Darjeeling, but for the agricultural economy in India and the overarching aim to move towards green transition.
We thank NextGen CDR, South Pole and Mitsubishi Corporation for their trust in our measurement technique, operations, team, and above-all their trust in our mission. We would also like to thank all of NextGen’s founding buyers (Boston Consulting Group (BCG), LGT Private Banking, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd., Swiss Re, and UBS) on whose behalf the purchase is made.
Lastly, We are grateful for all the support from all our investors & well wishers for believing in the Indian CDR story. We look forward to working together with all our stakeholders to solve for climate change and revive the tea estates of Darjeeling.
We thank the entire NextGen team for making this possible: K Kartick, Masao Koyama, Megan Kemp, Matthew Le Flocq, Akifumi (Chris) Takigawa, Yushi Horita, Jide Fawole
