  • We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Zama to bring the latest FHE (Fully Homomorphic Encryption) innovations to decentralized applications on Ethereum, Solana, and Cosmos ☄️   Zama will become the sole FHE layer in Airchains’ modular stack, allowing developers to build privacy-first dApps that boast end-to-end encryption, in addition to zero-knowledge proof verification. We will integrate Zama’s state-of-the-art FHE technology into our multichain framework, leveraging the power of the “holy grail of cryptography” for more secure onchain actions. We will share knowledge and insights to continue innovating the FHE layer of the modular blockchain stack. From confidential tokens that manage employee payroll with end-to-end encryption, to financial institutions that would like to offer RWAs to clients where their identities and transactions remain private, the practical use cases of FHE span every industry. We’re excited for this collaboration with the Zama team to continue expanding the frontiers of FHE’s reach across the blockchain landscape!

  • Last week, we kicked off our 12 days of ZK FHE series to highlight some standout moments for ZK FHE research and adoption in 2024. Here are our first 4 highlights: 1️⃣ Anoncast: an app that allows ANON token holders to anonymous post to X and Farcaster thanks to zk proofs. 2️⃣ NIST's Privacy Workshop: National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) hosted a virtual workshop in September 2024 on Privacy-Enhancing Cryptography, including sessions on FHE, MPC, & ZK proofs. 3️⃣ Apple's Homomorphic Encryption: You can see Apple's HE in action with ML while using visual search, during private information retrieval, and private nearest neighbor search. 4️⃣ Swiss Health Network: Setting a new standard for privacy in healthcare, SHN leverages FHE to make sure patient data stays encrypted even during analysis, ensuring privacy from start to finish.

  • There are 3 terms anyone interested in blockchain privacy should know: 👉 Decentralized: A decentralized system distributes control and data across a network of participants, eliminating the need for a central authority. This enhances security, transparency, and resilience—key factors in maintaining privacy within blockchain networks. 👉 Zero-Knowledge: Zero-Knowledge proofs allow one party to prove to another that a statement is true without revealing any additional information. This technology enables secure verification processes while keeping sensitive data completely confidential. 👉 Fully Homomorphic Encryption: FHE enables computations to be performed directly on encrypted data without decrypting it first. This means data remains secure and private even during processing, unlocking possibilities for confidential on-chain computations.   • ZK proofs are great for verifying computations, but the prover must access the #private data to generate the proof. This means you still have to trust them, which is essentially what we're trying to avoid in #blockchain. This limitation becomes particularly evident in scenarios where transparency is crucial, such as in certain market conditions or regulatory compliance situations. To address ZK’s limitations, we can use Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) – #FHE is great for #encryption, allowing computations on encrypted data without decryption. However, it doesn't allow for verification of the computation's correctness. zkFHE solves this ✅ ZK proofs provide confidentiality, while FHE provides privacy. With composable #privacy, you can combine these two cryptographic techniques for a real breakthrough. Airchains is at the forefront of this modularity ☄️

  • FHE is often referred to as the "holy grail" of #privacy. Why? 🤨 For about 3 decades, cryptographers were unable to solve the construction of a fully homomorphic encryption scheme. For a while, all we had was a “somewhat homomorphic encryption scheme (SWHE).” In 2009 - 30+ years after FHE was first theorized - Craig Gentry presented the first construction of an FHE scheme 🏆 This was made possible through a bootstrapping transformation applied to SWHE with a Recrypt function to generate a fresh, low noise ciphertext for operations. The anticipation and celebrity of FHE stems from its potential to construct and simplify other cryptographic protocols and outsourcing computation. At Airchains, we’re leveraging the holy grail of #cryptography with zk-SNARKs to unlock a new dimension of #onchain privacy. This paper from David J. Wu published in 2015 dives deeper into the holy grail of cryptography: FHE.
