I truly believe AI will surpass human intelligence within a few years. 2. This is a great sign for the Israeli tech ecosystem. We've been leaders in cybersecurity for some time, but in the realm of large AI models, we're still catching up.

Israeli Startup Raised $36 Million For Smartphone-Based Motion Analysis Technology OneStep, an Israeli startup, raised $36 million in a Series B funding round led by venture capital firms Team8 and Vintage Investment Partners. Existing investors Aleph, 10D, and LionBird participated. In total, OneStep has secured $48 million since its inception. The Israeli startup’s technology transforms smartphones into clinical-grade motion analysis tools, helping healthcare providers assess, treat, and monitor patients from anywhere. OneStep generates 40 different metrics, including step length, time spent on each leg, range of motion in various joints, and more. Recently, OneStep expanded into cognitive monitoring to address conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. "Our vision is for gait measurement to become a daily activity, just like weighing yourself in the morning," said Tomer Shussman, co-founder and CEO of OneStep. OneSte’s product was approved by the American FDA and now is widely used by hospitals, physical therapy clinics, nursing homes, and medical device manufacturers. OneStep was founded in late 2019 by CEO Tomer Shussman, Chief Scientific Officer Yuval Naveh, CTO Shahar Davidson, and Executive Chairman Amir Milo. I did not invest in Firefly. In fact, the first time I heard of this venture was probably after learning about their CTO/ Co-Founder, Sefi Genis, who tragically lost his life at the Nova music festival on October 7th. Later, I got acquainted with Ido Neeman, the CEO/ Co-Founder, and discovered that Firefly had an ongoing business relationship with one of our portfolio companies. Sefi’s and Firefly’s story touched me deeply on a personal level. As an early-stage investor, when evaluating new teams, we often consider many risks—most of which are difficult to even hypostatize. We think of risks, such as lack of PMF, challenges to achieve traction, etc. However, it's unimaginable to think that a startup founder/ CTO might meet such a tragic fate as Sefi did. I followed Firefly’s journey from afar, occasionally exchanging messages with Ido. The interview Ido gave to Moshe Zilberstein from Next47 was incredibly moving, highlighting not only outstanding personal resilience but also extraordinary business resilience—exactly the kind of strength early-stage investors look for in their portfolio founders. The way Ido explained how they coped after realizing Sefi was gone, and how he and the entire Firefly team grew from such a profound moment of grief, speaks volumes about the essence of the Israeli tech industry.
