In order to effectively scale and manage cloud workloads, VMware Avi Load Balancer receives support. VMware, now part of Broadcom, is enhancing its Avi Load Balancer technology with new features to improve cloud workload management. Acquired in 2019, Avi's software-defined load balancer supports hybrid cloud environments, VMware Cloud Foundation, Kubernetes workloads (including VMware Tanzu), and mobile/5G workloads. "Avi integrates with Tanzu Kubernetes runtime and Tanzu Application Service, providing container ingress and built-in security for any Kubernetes environments including OpenShift," said Umesh Mahajan, VP and GM of the ANS Division at Broadcom. What’s new in Avi Load Balancer The Avi Load Balancer update adds self-service load balancing for VMware Cloud Foundation via Aria Automation, and Gateway API support for Kubernetes, simplifying container ingress and enhancing per-route analytics. Boosting multitenancy and 5G performance The Avi Load Balancer update boosts manageability with a 3x increase in multitenancy, benefiting managed service providers and large enterprises. It now integrates with VMware Telco Cloud Platform (TCP 4.0), supporting both 4G VNFs and 5G CNFs, enhancing load balancing for telco and mobile applications. Accelerating legacy load balancer migrations VMware by Broadcom is targeting the transition from hardware load balancers in hybrid deployments. A new UI-based conversion tool automates the discovery, conversion, and deployment of legacy load balancer configurations into Avi policies. Umesh Mahajan noted that Avi’s built-in automation and application analytics simplify triaging, allowing DevOps teams to deploy load balancers as they deploy apps.
