Google is getting close to a record $23 billion deal to acquire Israeli cybersecurity company Wiz. According to the story, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is reportedly in "advanced talks" to acquire Wiz, a company based in #NewYork. This would be the largest #acquisition of an Israeli tech company and double Alphabet's largest acquisition to yet, which was the $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola in 2012. The publication pointed out that the possible transaction would occur at a time when startups have been leery of mergers and acquisitions because of fears of antitrust monitoring, and that Google is looking to strengthen its cloud computing company, for which Wiz supplies cybersecurity. Assaf Rappaport, Yinon C., Ami Luttwak, and Roy R.-launched Wiz in early 2020. This same team founded Adallom, which Microsoft acquired in 2015 for $320 million. They oversaw the Cloud Security Group for Microsoft Azure as well. Forty percent of the Fortune 100 firms, including Slack, Mars, BMW, DocuSign, Plaid, and Agoda, are among its clientele. Take a look at this picture. It was taken today at our Salesforce offices in Tel-Aviv. It shows a few dozens of Salesforce Israel employees in one of our regular all-hands meetings. What's so special about that? Well, that picture was taken exactly 36 hours after Iran launched a massive aerial strike against Israel with 100s of UCAVs, ballistic and cruise missiles carrying about 60 tons(!) of explosives. Thanks to the Israeli Air force, the air forces of the US, UK, France, Jordan and others *and* Israeli innovation and engineering talent who developed the most advanced multi-layered air defense systems in the world - luckily that attack ended up with relatively low impact. It was a sleepless night for all us in Israel who got an advanced notice of the attack and basically spent that night bracing for impact. Now take another look at this picture. 36 hours later - People showing up at the office, talking to each other, having a few laughs, having meetings, discussing deadlines, solving business problems, discussing engineering problems, doing demos, having coffee and lunch together, having an all-hands meeting together. 36 hours ago we were bracing for impact of 60 tons of explosives that were about to fall out of the sky. I'm back in Israel, after the insightful 58th ICA conference. I found out that Israel can be one of the global leaders of the AI revolution, but in order to do so, we must collaborate with our true friends in the world. Such a collaboration can only happen when we listen carefully to our international partners, and understand that their critique comes from true friendship. Recently, I encountered an Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) issue on a utility company’s website, allowing access to other users’ information by simply adjusting a URL parameter. Thanks to the quick action from the company after I reported it, the vulnerability was patched right away. A special thank you to Ran Bar-Zik for publishing the story and helping to bring attention to the importance of strong access control in data security. Israeli Solution That Ensures Security of AI Copilot Raises $38 Million ZENITY, an Israeli startup which specializes in AI-based cybersecurity, raised $38 million in a Series B funding round led by Daniel Loeb's Third Point Ventures and DTCP. In total, Zenity raised $55 million. The new funding will accelerate development of the Zenity' product, and support Zenity’s expansion in North America. Zenity’s product protects AI copilots from cyber threats, as with the increased use of AI copilot by business users, attackers can exploit these applications by injecting malicious commands, poisoning data, and embedding hidden instructions into AI systems. The product is potentially interesting for financial organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and healthcare systems. Ben Kliger, CEO, and Michael Bargury, CTO, founded Zenity in 2021.
