Oggi, nel nostro headquarter alle porte di Milano, abbiamo inaugurato F&B Innovation Hub, un acceleratore di imprese per il mondo Food & Beverage, dedicato allo sviluppo di soluzioni innovative per migliorare la competitività dei servizi del settore. 🚀 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: PARTNERSHIP WITH Avolta! 🚀 We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new web-based VAT refund technology at Milan Malpensa and Linate airports, in partnership with Avolta, starting June 10th, 2024. 🌐 Tourists can visit utu.global/MilanDutyFree, take a photo of their EU tax-free form, and purchase a voucher for the VAT refund amount plus 25% more, redeemable at Milan Duty Free stores. Travelers will still need to complete the regular VAT refund process as prescribed by the VAT refund operator on the form. 🌍 This journey began at the 2023 TFWA (Tax Free World Association) convention, where we saw an opportunity to revolutionize VAT refunds for tourists. Inspired by an ad for Avolta NEXT, we submitted a last-minute entry and were humbled to be shortlisted as one of 14 finalists out of 140 companies. This confirmation through Avolta NEXT validated our vision. 💡 Presenting utu's concept of upcycling VAT refunds at duty-free resonated with Avolta's leadership. Now, six months later, our innovative solution is live, simplifying the VAT refund process and offering significant incentives for travelers. 🙏 Special thanks to the Avolta leadership team: Xavier, Maurus, Vijay and Fabio. 🌍 Happy Earth Day, from Avolta to all! 💚 Today we celebrate our planet and take stock of the sustainable initiatives we have in place in our operations across the globe, to in turn make thoughtful and meaningful pledges as individuals and as One Team. On the Earth Day 2024 theme “Planet vs. Plastics”: • In 2023 we replaced ~70% of F&B packaging used with non-plastic alternatives • The number of retail countries using only non-plastic, biodegradable and recycled alternative bags went from 26 to 38 • We are collaborating with our beverage partners in a targeted effort to encourage the use of recycled plastic bottles and reduce the use of virgin plastic bottles  • In collaboration with Biolo, we are implementing plant-based and compostable straws across numerous locations in the USA • 70% of single-use packaging items in our restaurants across key Food & Beverage countries are now sustainable 🌱Our pledge to the planet this week is to give back through our partnership with ONETREEPLANTED, aiming to plant 5,000 trees in the Amazon Rainforest to aid reforestation, in addition to the 50,000 trees - absorbing over 2,000 tons of CO2 - that we have already planted to date. #InHub, the Innovation Hub in the Food & Beverage sector on motorways under Avolta's #Autogrill label, has officially closed its first call.   Over 100 #startups from all over the world submitted their applications and presented their innovative solutions that will help improve F&B points of sale on the expansive Autogrill motorway network.   We strongly believe that InHub represents the place where future ideas can truly find their place with the help of these innovative start-ups, with whom we share our passion for excellence.   Thanks to everyone who participated.
