Last week Noma Security came out of stealth with $32M in funding. Glilot Capital Partners led the seed round and Ballistic Ventures led the A round. There has been so much talk about #AI and #GenAI, and not surprisingly, a lot of talk around securing AI. That's almost obvious; the new and exciting world of AI brings with it an endless list of new risks and vulnerabilities that need to be mitigated and solved. As a Cyber investor, I was immediately flushed by a trail of companies, aiming to fix security for AI, but, TBH, non of those seemed big enough and exciting enough. Very excited to announce Noma Security coming out of stealth today and our investment leading the $25M Series A round. Why did we invest? See the video below and and blog post but it all started with our excitement for the founders Niv Braun and Alon Tron and their holistic vision for securing the AI development lifecycle. Since the days of our team founding Fortify, a pioneer in appsec, Ballistic Ventures has been a big believer in the "secure by design" principle. The simple but powerful idea that starting with a secure build process is like starting with a strong foundation for your house. What we've seen is that data engineers and their work in the data and AI development lifecycle is looking very different than our traditional software development life cycle (SDLC). As data engineers move from analytics to impacting production because of the adoption of AI, we have to bring the principle of "secure by design" to this new AI development lifecycle. This is existential because it's only a matter of time before we see AI's equivalent of SolarWinds and Log4Shell type attacks. But equally important is with this increased security we can't slow engineers down.
