Tao Climate™ - Decarbonising Aviation
What is Tao Climate? Tao Climate is a FinTech company, building a next generation carbon removal MRV (measurement, reporting and verification) platform, for the creation and sale of carbon removal credits in real time, a real breakthrough. We're working with Google and the European Space Agency (ESA BIC Ireland member) to build our tech, which will use satellite imaging, AI and field data to deliver trust to carbon removal markets. Our main mechanism is industrial hemp, so we measure all aspects of our partners' farming and manufacturing processes, with the hemp carbon fibre used to make sustainable housing and infrastructure from hempcrete. Our pilot project is in Ukraine, and we also have a live project in the EU, with multiple other partners waiting to supply the demand we're creating. Our go-to-market strategy is to help decarbonise aviation, and we're talking with multiple airlines and airports. We're in Elon Musk's XPRIZE Carbon Removal Top 100 in the world, and our breakthrough technology will also enable the supply of SAF (sustainable aviation fuel) from hemp seed oil feedstock, with full MRV. Let's deliver the Green Age of Aviation, together! https://lnkd.in/e_eEXGD3

"It's important to build for longevity and set the right foundations. Although on Day 1 you think you have an idea for a business with longevity, that idea may change. Whatever it is, if you are passionate about it, start building and the rest will come." That's Luca Franchi, CEO and co-founder of Ambient Network, a decentralized network of air quality sensors, on this week's episode of MoneyNeverSleeps. Blockchain has grown up. This is my second interview with an emerging DePIN (decentralized physical infrastructure network) founder, and I'm talking to masters of their respective crafts building platforms, networks and yes, businesses, with longevity in mind. ACQUAINTED
🔥 At ACQUAINTED, we specialise in upskilling and strategising in the AI age. Our three-tiered offering encompasses every element of the AI adoption process, and depending on our client, we work on building and adopting the solutions (both horizontal and vertical) that suit them best. 🤖 But what does this mean for news publishers? It depends. For larger organisations, it means harnessing their masses of high-quality data in ways that improve the user experience and building new services into their offering. At the same time, this means opening up new revenue streams for their business models through licensing. 🔐 As we tell all of our clients, in order to prevent vendor lock-in, we suggest model-agnostic solutions built with interoperability in mind. This means that you will not be wedded to any particular platform provider, and ultimately have more journalistic freedom as a result. Eventually, we will see more domain-specific models become the norm, wherein we forfeit the wrangling of LLM’s (which are massive maelstroms of information) and instead opt for more accurate models that are more efficient and easily trained. 🚿 For smaller outlets, we foresee GenAI providing an oasis effect: potentially reversing the desertification of the news of the past decades. It will do this by allowing for the publication of information at a much cheaper and efficient level through horizontal, off-the-shelf solutions — democratising publishing as a result. Elsewhere, smaller outlets from lesser-used languages will be able to license their content to bolster their incomes, helping aid their survival in an increasingly dogmatic information environment. 📰 Read more about Publishing in the AI Age by downloading our free e-book below.

Hall & Partners
In his latest blog, Ollie Binks, Operations Director of Innovation at Hall & Partners, asks the big question: Is AI living up to the hype, or have we set our expectations too high? Drawing comparisons to the art of stage magic, Oliver explores the challenges of adopting AI in research – tools that promise innovation but often require immense preparation for modest returns. Yet, despite the hurdles, he believes the true potential of AI lies in how it enables researchers to refine their craft, uncover deeper insights, and challenge the norms of our industry. "By taking small incremental steps, reinventing a wheel or two, challenging the norms, I think I can still find my showstopper," Oliver writes. Curious about his perspective? Read more to discover why nuance, collaboration, and a healthy dose of curiosity could be the key to unlocking AI’s true magic. https://lnkd.in/giMN6Chn Escalent | C Space #Innovation #ArtificialIntelligence #MarketResearch #DataInsights #ResearchTools

This is definitely a step in the right direction, but how will it work from a cradle-to-cradle perspective? 🔄 Straight from the horses mouth William McDonough: “Everything is a resource for something else. In nature, the “waste” of one system becomes food for another. Everything can be designed to be disassembled and safely returned to the soil as biological nutrients, or re-utilised as high quality materials for new products as technical nutrients without contamination” This is a decent move, but will drinks containers qualify as technical nutrients? Have they been manufactured in a way that will allows them to reenter the production cycle easily? I have no idea, but thats surely what we should be aiming for?

🤯 So there we have it. We now have the coined phrase 'AI Water'. 🤯 Tech giants are set to be the biggest commercial consumers of water due to the cooling requirements of servers and in some cases - Direct to Chip - semiconductor technologies. In the attached article - not only are the environmental considerations hard hitting but the behavior of big tech is setting a precedent that should be sending alarm bells: 'Amazon has not release its total water consumption figures, believing it to be the wrong metric. “Amazon — I think it probably consumes more water than Microsoft,” said Ren, adding that the company was “very secretive” compared with other tech firms.' Intervention is needed. Innovation is well placed to solve this. Political will is the precursor. #SustainableAI #DecentralizedComputing #GreenTech #DataCenter #RedsandVentures Redsand Ventures Sandeep Dama Christos Kassianides @

House of Hackney
Yesterday House of Hackney founder Frieda Gormley joined Anuradha Chugh former CEO of Pukka Herbs, Patagonia’s Alex Beasley, co-founder of Flora Verônica Manguinho de Souza and Eden Project Trustee and co-founder of Regenerative Governance Erica Neve FRSA in a Bio-Leadership Project panel discussion about navigating the tensions between purpose, profit and planet. The biggest takeaway from this panel was that there is a clear correlation between economic and ecological problems. In the current economic climate, each sustainable problem is first a social problem; people don’t have the time and money to invest in regeneration if they are worrying about getting through the next few weeks. We, as a society, need to create a system in which people are stable as a first step, which will then provide the capacity to invest in community, the environment and Nature. Also discussed was the balancing act between profit and purpose. With many businesses owned through private equity, (especially in the West), should we be looking at different ownership models? Ones that align with our brand missions and purpose? We hope that by more and more people and businesses coming around to these ways of thinking, we, as a whole, can stop the trajectory of overconsumption, overcapitalisation and over extraction. We hope that we can all learn to make less, to take less, and work more in harmony with the natural world.

🤖 Who is responsible for the brand governance when it comes to AI models? 🤖 LLM's can be tailored to respond in all sorts of ways and can generate all sorts of subtle reflections in terms of tone, authority, and interaction. Ian Smith and Ben Lowe discuss this as part of a larger podcast on the use of AI in enterprise environments, arguing that overlaying technologies can be used to inject an organisation's brand values firmly into these solutions, just as they would with all other company activities. It is in fact not only the responsibility of the business, it is an opportunity to continue to strengthen the brand throughout the customer experience. . 🎙️Have you listened to our podcast yet? CAST Centre for the Acceleration of Social Technology
🆕 AI: Perspectives on change In a new blog, Dan Sutch introduces a new diagram that we at CAST have been using as a basis for contextualising the different perspectives at play when thinking - and talking - about Generative AI (GenAI). Incorporating four key elements - Efficiencies within existing workflows; New processes & ways of working; Changes to mission and Context change - we have found that the diagram can be useful when starting or guiding discussions around the full scale of opportunities and challenges presented by GenAI 👉 https://buff.ly/3R9MEBO And we'd love your input: would this be useful as a visual reference point for your own AI discussions? “If a founder’s network doesn’t provide, there are also plenty of accelerator programmes and grant schemes that hook up startups with corporates. “We’re seeing quite a bit of commercial R&D and commercial trial partnerships,” says Pilgreen. “It’s a great way [for] an early-stage software company that may or may not have defensibility in place to work out the MVP with the potential customer as they go, in a low-risk environment.” “We love the validate stage, because a lot of the time [founders] have the wrong idea about why their product or service is valuable,” she adds. “You think it sells in learning and development, for example, but actually it sits in procurement or logistics.” Check out these insights and more from our very own Lauren Pilgreen in Sifted’s recent report on how to create a standout B2B startup. For businesses looking to adopt AI today – from simple chatbots to deep market analysis tools – the growing number of underwhelming and failed experiments early on may weigh heavy on how they adopt AI in the next 12 to 18 months. In a survey of Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, research firm IDC and data software vendor SAS found that only 23 per cent of organisations are transformative in their AI adoption, say, by using AI to transform markets or create new businesses. Top reasons for AI failure: Poor quality of data, privacy concerns and compliance limitations. A lack of specialised personnel, the costs of AI development and deployment and a lack of clear evaluation criteria for AI solutions don’t help, either. From AI PCs that promise to make every worker an instant artist and copywriter to deeply embedded AI features that claim to help businesses find new market insights, a reality check is arriving in the amount of additional work needed to make the magic work. AI PCs, for example, still face a lack of software apps that fully make use of more powerful processors that promise to edit videos in a jiffy or create images quickly from a description of a mere few words. When it comes to gaining insights through AI, larger businesses are also grappling with the need to find and prepare the data needed to train their AI models. After years of talking about data lakes and centralising one’s data sources, businesses are still struggling with data.
