It's great to see a new entrant in the Irish Telco market. Sky Mobile has a very strong track record when it moves into the Mobile market. It's strategy is simple. Simplify the journey for it's existing customers. Sky  has 700,000 customers in Ireland. Comcast (Sky's parent company) have an amazing strategy of how to bring on mobile customers wherever they've done this.  One criticism I have which will come back to bite any company I've seen do it is the 'X price for life'. There are many reasons for a purchase decision but the 'for life' promotion is business madness in my opinion. Inflation is real as are VAT/tax changes. €15 a month maybe will make a decent margin today but what about in 5 years? €15 is very competitive already and in a market where most competitors are around 2 out of 5 in Trustpilot, Sky are going to be very successful even if they are just above average. What Lessons Hibernia Atlantic Offers The Wholesale Market - Part 1 Columbia Ventures purchased 360's Atlantic assets out of bankruptcy in 2001. It included an Irish Sea cable linking the Dublin CLS to the Southport CLS and two Trans-Atlantic cables connecting the Halifax CLS to the Southport and Dublin CLS' and a cable from the Halifax CLS to Boston CLS. All the fibre back haul was lost to other buyers. In 2005 Columbia decided it was time to either shut down the network or make it work. At the time the annual subsea maintenance was somewhere between 9 and 11 million USD and there was one 3000€ Colt circuit on the system. Pretty grim. So the CEO went out and hired one of the best wholesale salesman, Eric Gutshall, and Eric hired four sales contractors who had no quotas, salaries or benefits, but received 10% of gross on-net revenue. The sales force pointed out that the cable system needed POPs at key carrier neutral data centers in New York, Boston, Manchester, and London. It was a horizontal organization where I, a lowly contractor, could bluntly talk to the CEO. To their credit, senior management listened and agreed and financed the expensive builds. Fibre was lit from the Boston CLS to Telx 60 Hudson and 111 8th Avenue and an entire UK ring that included Manchester Telecity and the legendary Telehouse London facility. And presto, sales poured in. The four sales contractors were told to never lose and there was no pricing department. This meant someone like Fergus Innes, a Colt salesman in 2005, could get an immediate quote by calling me. And every quote was honored. Once I got a call when I was on vacation in Barcelona with my mother wondering through the cobblestone streets of the Old City. Fergus needed a DS3 from the Dublin CLS to Telehouse North. I told him $2K MRC on a 3 year deal. He asked for a contract two hours later. So there was three key points to our sales success. 1. The sale force priced deals themselves and because we got 10%, there was no incentive to do a low number. There were no quotas. 2. But there was no salary, but a generous 10% of cut of the economic pie that we put on the table. So hustle we did. Seven days a week including holidays and vacation. Compensation was entirely performance based. We had win rates well above 50% during the first two years. 3. Customers loved the fact that we could provide instantaneous and accurate pricing. There is no excuse for carriers not to provide instantaneous pricing. This is simply a legacy of the old PTT mentality that the carrier owns the market. The standard wholesale sales model is a failure in my opinion. Salesmen get high salaries, low commission rates, and often do just one or two deals their first and only year and then are fired or jump ship just before being fired. So the revenue to total sales compensation ratio ow due to the sales forces low average productivity. #hibernia #sales #businessmodels

Honestly, What a nonsense question:- The reality is that EirGrid Group gives a cable to their clients' Homes, Businesses, Retail, Pharmaceutical, Datacentre or corner shops, which can facilitate the Maximum (MIC) amount of electricity at any one time (think water and a plastic pipe). The client then uses more or less of the cable capacity as and when needed; however, you cannot use any more than the maximum cable size at any one time, and it's fixed, not elastic, so you see how ill-informed, populist and frankly stupid this type of question is! Very good Success story. Right approach in some difficult situations as right individuals are there but this may not be the case every time so standard pricing/deal pricing will ensure right pricing is going to keep healthy margins and not over priced.

🚧 **Midweek Broadband Outage in Northern Ireland Due to Damaged Fibre Optic Cable** 🚧 Earlier this week, a significant broadband outage hit Northern Ireland, lasting from 3pm until the following day, after a contractor accidentally knocked a fibre optic feed cable during road works. This disruption affected thousands of customers and caused considerable inconvenience. What makes this incident especially frustrating is that it was entirely avoidable. With machine control technology, the operator would have been aware of the presence of underground cabling, and the system could have prevented the damage. Now, not only are customers dealing with the aftermath, but the contractor faces a hefty bill to cover repairs and lost service. A new report shows that Huawei makes an €800m economic contribution to Ireland annually. The report by Amárach reveals that Huawei employs 543 people in Ireland. It also supports the employment of a further 6,100 people through indirect (3,170) and induced (2,949) effects from its activities which include significant research and development. Huawei have four offices across the country including three R&D centres in Dublin, Cork, and Athlone. Since its arrival here in 2004, Huawei's activities have developed from supplying mobile dangles and building Ireland's first national fixed wireless network, to powering the country's digital connectivity and its green energy ambitions. According to today's report, Huawei will contribute €4.5 billion in economic value to Ireland between now and 2030, with the potential for this figure to be bigger.
