Exciting news! RedOrange AI has been shortlisted for the National Startup Award! 🚀 The seed for RedOrange was planted during my last trip to India, brainstorming with my amazing team. At the time, we were building a tailored cloud security solution for an SME client, but a question kept echoing: How can we create a broader impact through our product? Then, something hit close to home. A third-party data breach exposed my organization’s accounting data, resulting in a regulatory notice from our accounting company. I realized how regulatory changes and growing compliance demands were making it increasingly challenging to operate, especially for smaller businesses. Being both a small business owner and part of the cloud security industry, I saw firsthand how simplified solutions could make a real difference. Together with the RedOrange team, we started intense technical and market research and quickly uncovered a core problem: compliance is a pressing issue for smaller companies, both in terms of growth and risk management. Within two months, we had built our MVP, and I’m thrilled to share that we’re now rolling out our pilot program with early clients. We’re on track for general availability by January, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead! A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Today we had our Virgin Media Business Ireland #BackingBusiness community webinar. There were tips about starting a business with a limited budget and some takeaways included: 🔵 First, make a plan. Write it down, figure out have you got a viable business idea. 🔵 Do your research. 🔵 Are you solving a problem for people.....and will they pay for it? 🔵 Get out and meet people. Tell people what you do. (carry business cards always or a digital version) 🔵 Join a network and build relationships (The Virgin Media Business Ireland #BackingBusiness community for example) 🔵 Use social media to engage with your target audience 🔵 Listen to radio to hear what's topical and see is there an opportunity to call in. 🔵 Create a press release. Tell your story. Send it to journalists, they might be interested. 🔵 Talk to other business owners perhaps find a mentor 🔵 Grab opportunities that come your way (like our guests did today) 🔵 Get support from organisations such as your local Enterprise Ireland office or ISME Ireland and the new National Enterprise Hub. The decision to shutter NDRC announced this week is both baffling and concerning. As Ireland’s national innovation incubator for the last 20 years, it has been a key support for the emergence of our startup ecosystem. Since taking on the mandate 4 years ago, Patrick Walsh and the Dogpatch Labs team have reinforced the foundations of its core accelerator programme, fostered entrepreneurship nationwide through a network of regional hubs, and built an incredible network of mentors and inbound investors to support the next generation of founders. Given political developments in the US and risks to FDI, Ireland needs thriving indigenous industry now more than ever. After dedicating over 18 years to tech sales, a bit more than a year ago I transitioned into a role as a leadership coach, and I find great fulfilment in this new path. I derive immense satisfaction from assisting individuals in their professional growth and success. As we concluded the web conference, I felt a profound sense of satisfaction and reflected on the reasons behind my career shift.
