More than three in five business leaders believe Budget 2025 will help them achieve their strategic priorities amid pressing business challenges, a new survey from the Irish Management Institute reveals. Shane O'Sullivan CDir, CBD, CEO of the IMI, said that from geopolitical uncertainty to skills shortages across the economy, business leaders across Ireland are navigating a volatile and fast changing business landscape. (That was the projection in Q1, but since there's been over 11,700 businesses served demand notices by Revenue in May regarding their tax debt warehouse situation. So the figure of 3 per day for 2024 may be conservative. We can no longer ignore or sideline the reality of the newer and more grave pressure small businesses are under now (that's 98% of all the businesses in Ireland). Calling on Govt to do a 'PRSI rebate' as proposed by Small Firms Association, so as to effectively support every small business in our country rather than just those who pay rates (ICOB - 'Increase in Cost Of Business' package, the €257m support scheme is only getting paid to rate payers.) #sme #smallbusiness Minister Peter Burke and Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment

An interesting article talking about the success of Briscoe Group. Briscoe Group is showing adversity and reporting profit in a struggling retail sector. Rod Duke points to having a good team of people, being debt free and a relentless focus on bettering his rivals. Not only being the best, but continuing to grow. Rod Duke also talks about tax, philanthropy and attitudes to wealth. “There is a group that dislikes wealthy people because of how they think they become wealthy. ERP Ireland since 2005 In 2004, the ERP SAS was officially established as the first pan-European e-waste takeback scheme created in response to the WEEE Directive. The company launched operations in Ireland in 2005, following its success and expansion across Europe.   Nowadays, ERP Ireland has 6 employees and 202 customers and provides WEEE and Waste Battery compliance and a B2B service to members.   James Burgess, Country General Manager of ERP Ireland underlines that: “Working on behalf of our producer members in the WEEE and Battery industry for over the past two decades, ERP Ireland has made a significant contribution to the circular economy, and we are very proud of this achievement. Consumers are increasingly more environmentally aware and over the past twenty years we have seen peoples’ recycling activities change for the better.
