Thanks a million to Newstalk's Jess Kelly for interviewing Adie McGennis and myself in Grafter's Smyth House about the joint collaboration between Ireland Gateway To Europe and Ireland Canada Business Association on our planned trip to Toronto in May 2025. We are delighted that Newstalk will be our media partners on the trip. Lovely to be hosted by the Grafter team and to meet the Ireland Gateway to Europe delegates who will be combining the visit to Toronto with visits to Boston and Washington DC also. I will be joining the Boston and Washington DC legs of the trip also representing National College of Ireland. It was a pleasure to host the Ireland Gateway To Europe 2025 Programme Launch at our flagship location in Dublin, Smyth House. It was a great evening learning about how the Gateway Community of businesses will be working together to innovate and enhance transatlantic trade and business relations between the USA, Canada, and Ireland. Thank you to Robert Mac Giolla Phadraig (SkillStack), Adie McGennis Jamie Harnett, Claire Kelly, and Mike McDonagh (Sigmar Recruitment) for organising and managing such an amazing community of businesses. It was also very interesting to hear from Conor Carmody & Sinead O'Riordan (Skillnet Innovation Exchange), Colm Power (NFP, an Aon company). A pretty apt wake-up call about the pace of innovation and a timely reminder to make time for continued learning! In a panel about 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀, we unpacked the critical importance of leveraging available training supports to become truly AI and digital native and it's very comforting to know more about the supports are out there. Our next session was with ADAPT Centre, 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 where we discussed the EU AI act and the global industry specific standards. The Workshop Lab wrapped up hearing from Eugene Smyth about the brilliant Skillnet Innovation Exchange program, thanks to our panelist Matt McCann & Brian Kennedy for sharing their experience. Meanwhile my colleague Larry O'Donoghue was moderating a conversation about digital transformation. What a fantastic half-day we had at The Mill this morning! During this Skillnet Innovation Exchange workshop led by the brilliant Dr. Maria Coakley we dived deep into consultative selling skills, exploring actionable steps, leveraging technology to enhance our approach, and engaging in lively peer-to-peer discussions and role-playing exercises. It was a session packed with practical tips and takeaways for everyone involved.
