Our 'Wheels for Wishes' cycling challenge was held last week at Jervis Shopping Centre and raised over €2,000 to support magical wishes over the festive season! As part of the challenge, a group of volunteers kept 2 static bikes going from 9am until 9pm, while raising much needed awareness and funds for critically ill children across Ireland. A huge thank you to all our corporate partners who volunteered on the day, and in particular, a thank you to Jervis Shopping Centre for their incredible support in running the event. We wanted to highlight an amazing fundraiser that happened this past week from young Holly! Holly sold handmade bracelets at her local Christmas fair, and raised a total of €1,924 to support our wish children! Attached is a photo of Holly and her younger brother Arlo at the fair. Holly told us: "I chose the Make-A-Wish Foundation for my bracelet fundraiser because making bracelets is something I love. It makes me happy to think that the money I raised could help bring a smile to another child’s face and make their dream come true. I really enjoyed having a table at the Christmas fair, this is the first time I ever did this and everybody was so kind that came to see me and I loved sharing my bracelets with people I knew and some people that just wanted to support me. Stories From the Heart of Ireland is Brendan Power's incredible book, containing 61 stories of inspiration and hope across Ireland. Inspired by his granddaughter Niamh, who was given the gift of a lifetime – a wish which involved a trip to Lapland to meet the real Father Christmas – Brendan Power has brought together sixty-one stories from well-known figures such as Joe Duffy, Adi Roche and Oliver Sears, to raise funds to help other children with critical illness, and to honour Niamh’s memory. Who would have known that someone with an eating disorder could turn his life around to become a Michelin-starred chef, or that the loss of their son would lead to an Irish couple being responsible for saving thousands of lives in the US? Some of these stories will bring a tear to your eye and others will bring a smile to your lips, but they all provide a measure of inspiration.
