That was some buzz! 🎉🕺🏻🪩💃🏻🎉 The JOE Pub Quiz is such an important piece of IP for JOE with over 100,000 people loyally playing it every week for over 10 years. So it was my idea to bring the quiz in to the real world for the first time ever! And so the live quiz was born. We based the quiz around: “Not your average pub quiz”, aligning with our “Average JOE” tagline. Think your local pub quiz, but on steroids! Confetti cannons, rave alerts, massive prizes, over 400 visual elements, meme rounds, 350 punters in sold-out venue and exclusive guest questions from none other than Paul Mescal & Jamie Dornan. Not to mention a personal career highlight, creating the JOE Dolan Wheel of Wonder. A huge team effort, and too many to name all involved, but special thanks to Steven Mills / Lucy Sutton who brought my silly ideas to life, my hosts Eric Lalor Ryan Carrick Ross McCarney, Lee Roberts / Linda O' Mahony for event mgmt and my partner in quiz crime Peter Cooney. Such was the enthusiasm for our first event (we had over 4,000 people express interest in coming), we’re already plotting rolling this out around the country 🇮🇪 So stay tuned for some updates on that 👀 Exciting times ahead!

This is a big’n! 👀 Delighted to celebrate JOE.ie reaching 500k on Instagram. I’m not one to usually celebrate numerical milestones but this one felt significant. 1 year ago, I focussed more time on JOE and since then, we’ve seen the brand grow massively. In 12 months, we’ve seen the page grow 43% - adding 150,000 followers. Considering the growth from 2011-2012 (24 months) was 33,000 followers total, this is a huge upturn. How did we do it? There was no competition tactics (“follow to enter”) behind this growth. We simply started with our content offering. We went back to basics, looking at the amount of output, super-charging our high priority slots, getting a better content mix, feeding the algorithm more of what it wants and importantly, reacting to what the audience/numbers were telling us! This resulted in us cutting out 10-20% of the content we were making, instead choosing to lean in to our core content pillars - splitting our time and effort between low-value easy wins and high-priority content making. Just because you spend a long time on something, this alone shouldn't be the barometer for success. Follow the numbers, spend time on the things that will have impact and swivel when it doesn’t. Doing the same thing over and over, but expecting different results is the nightmare situation. The JOE team reacted brilliantly to these changes, delivering a considered content plan which executes both daily and weekly deliverables, all feeding in to this ideal content mix. The page is at an all-time high and humming - and importantly, is mirroring commercial growth within the same period. It’s all connected!

Oh baby, we're cooking! 🧑🏻🍳 Since joining in 2021, we've made a lot of changes to the JOE Media Group (Ireland) strategy. A big focus was put on how we drive considerable growth in the areas of video. So I'm delighted to say that all our brands - JOE, Sports JOE, Her & Lovin Dublin - are seeing record stats and growth across the board - both monthly & yearly)! The pages are humming, the teams are more agile, and our average engagement and video views are on the up! Simply put, the social channels of the brands have never been in a better place. In 2023, we rightfully celebrated the brands hitting 1 Billion video views for the full year. This year, we're tracking to hit 1.6 Billion. Around 80% of our video content is original, with that being a key factor in our overall growth in the area. An original content series on JOE, of only 6 videos, returned over 8million+ video views. Those numbers are simply unmatched for a original content publisher in Ireland. Our collective engagement rate is now at 11% (double the industry average). Showcasing that not only are we achieving more video views, but more people are engaging and resonating with the content that we create. We're working on content that resonates with our teams, the country and further afield - it's an exciting time. JOE Media Group (Ireland) x JOE.ie x Her.ie x Lovin

It's been a busy few weeks across the UK & Ireland - with the team chatting to Kneecap, Will Ferrell, Carol Vorderman & Jeremy Corbyn in the last 2 weeks alone 👏

It has been a strong couple of weeks at JOE Media Group across Politics, Sports and Entertainment from hosting the likes of Carol Volderman, Bernie Sanders, Kneecap, Will Ferrell and even a debut for Jeremy Corbyn on a Football Quiz show, to being guest contributors across the BBC’s flagship shows ‘News Night’ and ‘Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg’. We continue to be at the centre of the conversation and fostering engagement across sports, politics and culture for an entire generation forgotten by mainstream media. There is a significant gap in media between the viral, often superficial content of social publishers and the luxury-focused content of legacy male, female and LGBTQ magazines. This space leaves a large audience underserved, particularly those who seek content that is both meaningful and engaging. We are filling the gap with journalistic content that is thoughtful, positive and constructive. Views and performance of content is still integral, we assess the data of every piece of content that leaves the building and are doing over 300 million minutes of video watched per month. However, anyone can pay for views, it’s our journalistic approach to social publishing and strong brand values that gives us unique positioning to earn the right to talk to focused niche communities in a tone they understand and on the social media platforms where they consume it. We have built the trust as brands to engage audiences on the topics they care about whether that’s documenting football away days, the cost of living crisis, proving rugby isn’t just for posh boys or exploring why British and Irish males love to fight. Really proud of this one! 🥇🙌🏻 With a bit of distance on the Olympics, we're reflecting on our JOE Media Group (Ireland) coverage across the two weeks - notably on JOE & SportsJOE. Our coverage managed to garner over 121,000,000 impressions with a mind-boggling 8,400,000 engagements - making us one of the most engaged brands in Ireland during the time. An RTÉ staffer shared their Olympics stats on Linkedin, achieving 119m impressions across the same period - that's with official video footage from the IOC included, across multiple (7) RTÉ pages and with a larger team from their Sports, TV & Digital departments working across their content. Putting into perspective the incredible work from our small but mighty team. A huge feat, and a great example of amplifying key cultural events👏 👏 👏 Our content worked out at getting an average of 13,472 engagements on each post! Truly exceptional stuff. Our team crafted a mix of templates, post types and tonal executions across news updates, daily schedules, win/lose/qualify graphics and elevated story carousels - nailing a range of content each day. We also partnered with PTSB for them to co-brand a number of our Olympic suite - delivering them a whopping 20,582,291 Impressions & 1,423,124 Engagements. Keeping PTSB, an official Team Ireland sponsor, firmly in the Olympic conversation every minute of the day. And delivering what has to be one the countries highest engaged commericial deals this year - not every day a commericial client gets over 1.4m organic engagements on their content in the space of a week. This showcases the power that our channels can deliver to commericial clients - using our expertise in social cut-through to be a part of important cultural events. All of this was driven by the brilliant JOE teams, with a special nod to Nathan Byrne Eimear Kelly Enda Coll Niall McIntyre Robert Redmond Simon Kelly Joseph Loftus & Stephen Porzio
