The first ever physical activity for health Mayo Prime Time of Life; 12-week evidence-based exercise programme to support individuals with long term health conditions finished on November 27th in Glenamoy, North Mayo.. Thank you to our partners EduFIT, Laois Sports Partnership and Cill Chomain GAA. Funding for the Glenamoy programme was provided by Slaintecare healthy Communities A huge thank you also to Justin Healy the exercise instructor lead on this pilot in Glenamoy for his dedication and excellent programme delivery. Mayo Sports Partnership look forward to offering this evidence-based programme again in North Mayo in early 2025. A great turnout last week at Longford Community Safety & Wellbeing Expo 2024. A collaboration between Longford County Council - Healthy Longford, Longford's Slaintecare Healthy Communities & Longford Community Safety Partnership. Over 50 Community expos there on the day made up of Voluntary, Community & Public Organisations. There was 5 secondary schools & 3 National schools there also with almost 500 attendees on the day. Dr Katriona O Suillivan was our keynote speaker not only was she motivational but inspiring to all- the quietness in the room when she was speaking says it all. Katriona spoke about her life, how she came through adversity to where she is now. Thank you so much Katriona; brilliant to have you to Longford. 📝 Case Study: Healthy Wicklow Intergenerational Community Drumming Project Enhances Physical and Mental Health Under Healthy Ireland Round 4 Fund 2023 – 2025 one of the key performance indicators chosen for County Wicklow was an increase in an individual’s level of positive mental health as per the energy and vitality index, leading to the development of the intergenerational drumming project. Using the Pobal Deprivation Index, areas ranging from disadvantaged to very disadvantaged were identified, with the overarching objective being to use non-clinical activities to positively influence physical and mental health and wellbeing for people living in these areas and ensure a wide range of the population catered for.
