About us

Foróige is the National Youth Development Organisation in Ireland. Foróige is the leading youth organisation in Ireland, working with over 50,000 young people aged 10-18 every year through volunteer-led clubs and staff-led youth projects. Founded in 1952, Foróige currently operates in 26 counties in Ireland, with 600 Foróige clubs, 150 youth projects, the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programme, Youth Information Centres and the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship. General services such as Foróige Clubs, volunteer-led youth cafés, feeder clubs and youth fora encourage young people to take responsibility and be part of shaping the world while developing their talents, skills and character, while also having a great time along the way. Targeted services such as Garda Youth Diversion Projects, Teen Parent Support Programmes and Neighbourhood Youth Projects, help young people to deal with issues associated with poverty, marginalisation and social exclusion, under-achievement at school, early school leaving, youth crime, substance abuse and family difficulties in a safe friendly environment. • Last weekend 385 Foróige young people and their families gathered at the University of Galway to celebrate an incredible achievement—their Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership & Community Action. These graduates are part of thousands of young people who participated in the Foróige Leadership for Life Programme and the Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Initiative this year. Through these programmes, these inspiring young leaders have developed invaluable skills that will benefit them now and in the future. They’ve also used these skills to create positive change in their communities by completing impactful community action projects. From raising awareness about critical issues like climate change, mental health, and equality to bringing people together through events and social initiatives, their projects have made a real difference. Congratulations to all involved—your leadership is shaping a brighter future! #WeAreForóige

  • 🟣 We were thrilled to welcome Taoiseach Simon Harris TD to officially open the brand-new Foróige Blessington Youth Hub in Co. Wicklow today. This state-of-the-art youth space marks an exciting milestone for the community, offering vital youth work services and a safe, supportive environment for young people in Blessington and beyond. 🟣 The new hub is a testament to Foróige’s commitment to empowering young people to reach their full potential, providing them with opportunities to learn, grow, and connect in a space designed with their needs in mind. 🙏🏻 A huge thank you to Blessington and District Forum and An Garda Síochána who made this project a reality – and our incredible staff and volunteers to the local community and partners who have shown such unwavering support. #WeAreForóige | Andra Johnston | Carmel Cashin | Kilian McGreal | Jason Mulhall | Eamonn Elliott

  • 🟣 The next General Election is in two weeks. Foróige has developed an Election Manifesto to highlight the importance of youth work and the need to involve young people’s voices in shaping the future. Our vision is for every young person in Ireland to have access to youth work.  Young people are not just the citizens of tomorrow; they are rights holders today and vital contributors to society. As we look toward a new Government, it’s crucial that young people are at the heart of policy and decision-making.  Youth work changes lives, unlocks potential, and strengthens communities. It’s proven to support positive outcomes and address many challenges faced by young people, families, and communities.  📥 Download the Foróige Election Manifesto here: https://lnkd.in/e26Wmxn4 #GE24 #YouthVoice #WeAreForóige

  • 🗳️ The General Election is Friday, 29 November! Today is the final day to register new voters! 📅 A recent poll by our friends in the National Youth Council of Ireland shows that most people believe politicians aren’t fully representing young people’s interests. This can change, and registering to vote is a powerful step. Registering is quick and easy: 1️⃣ Find your PPS number 2️⃣ Find your Eircode 3️⃣ Fill out a quick form at CheckTheRegister.ie Register today and encourage others to do the same! #Election24 #GE24

  • 🟣 We were delighted to attend the 2024 Consular Forum hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland this morning, where key trends and issues in consular assistance were discussed, with a welcome focus on young people. It was great to have Foróige's CEO, Seán Campbell, contribute to the vibrant panel discussions. 🧳 The event also marked the official launch of the TravelWise Smart Travel Preparation and Advice initiative, designed to help and encourage young people to make informed choices when planning to travel abroad.
