We are here to prevent the harm & heal the hurt of sexual violence. National 24-Hour Helpline 1800 77 8888 | drcc.ie
About us
The mission of The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre is to prevent the harm and heal the trauma of rape and other forms of sexual violence. Our work to prevent sexual violence includes delivery of BodyRight, our sexual violence prevention programme for young people; policy work; research; and awareness raising campaigns. When sexual violence does occur, the DRCC is there to support those affected with a National 24-Hour Helpline (1800 77 8888), counselling and therapy, and accompaniment services. To ensure that the needs of survivors of sexual violence are met, we also provide training to professionals working in the area of trauma, and for critical service providers. 70 Lower Leeson Street Dublin 2. How you talk about sexual violence and how you react to harmful and hurtful behaviour and comments has a real impact for survivors around you. It shows them whether you are a safe person or not. This Christmas please think about what you say and call it out when others say or do harmful things. Dominique Pelicot has been jailed for 20 years for repeatedly drugging and raping his ex-wife, Gisèle for almost a decade. Gisèle's strength reminds us that the blame for sexual violence lies solely with the perpetrator. We stand in solidarity with Gisèle and all survivors of sexual violence. If you have been affected by sexual violence, you can contact the National 24-hr Rape Crisis Helpline on 1800 77 8888 for free, confidential and non-judgemental support. ☎️National 24 Hour Helpline: 1800 77 8888 💬 Webchat available at drcc.ie ✍️ Share your story anonymously at wespeak.ie

“Sexual violence doesn’t stop for Christmas but neither will Dublin Rape Crisis Centre’s services and supports." - Chief Executive, Rachel Morrogh The festive season can be a difficult and lonely time for people who have experienced sexual violence, according to Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, which is urging anyone who needs support to call the National Rape Crisis Helpline 1800 77 88 88, open 24 hours every day over the Christmas period. Our CEO Rachel Morrogh has described Lisa O'Meara's statement following sentencing of her ex-partner for coercive control, rape & sexual assault as ‘powerful’ and a ‘rallying call’ to others in similar circumstances. Rachel told listeners on Morning Ireland that the 14.5 year sentence ‘gives hope to other victims’ & that the National Rape Crisis Helpline was open 24 hours a day over Christmas for anyone who needed support. While the legal route was not for all victims, she said, "the messages of solidarity, encouragement & hope that are given outside the court after guilty verdicts connect with the silent majority of victims of sexual violence who will never have a day in court, but who are encouraged, & find strength when justice is served." "Having your support is what got me through... I had your phone number when everyone else walked away." Survivors have so much to say and we’re here to listen. In 2023, the 24-hour National Rape Crisis Helpline had almost 19,000 contacts. Supporting DRCC can help survivors to make that first call and end the silence. Our sincere thanks to the creative minds at Publicis Dublin who went above and beyond on this campaign, as well as the fantastic team at Media365.ie We are so grateful for their generous support without which the Signs of Hope campaign would not have been possible 💜
Last Christmas, the National Rape Crisis Helpline received one call every hour over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and St Stephens Day. By providing a platform for survivors to share their story of healing, we’re hoping others can be encouraged to begin their own healing journey. Full credit to the team at Dublin Rape Crisis Centre and most importantly the 9 survivors who stepped forward and put their signs of hope out into the world. A Publicis Studio production.

Dublin Rape Crisis Centre is delighted to take delivery of a second donation of clothing from Tesco Ireland today. Over the course of 2024, our partnership has enabled us to provide replacement clothes to patients who go to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit (SATU) at the Rotunda Hospital after a sexual assault. This is the second of 2 donations of clothing from F&F at Tesco stores in Dublin and will have real impact for people at a traumatic time in their lives. Thank you Tesco!

Sexual violence is never the victim/ survivors fault. The European Union's Eurobarometer shows there is still a long way to go when it comes to victim blaming in Ireland. Together we can unlearn harmful beliefs and learn how to support survivors and promote consent. 💡 Learn more at the We-Consent.ie resource hub ☎️National 24 Hour Helpline: 1800 77 8888 💬 Webchat available at drcc.ie ✍️ Share your story anonymously at wespeak.ie Read findings in full at: https://lnkd.in/dxg3YX2t #Eurobarometer #Consent #VictimBlaming
