It was great to join the apprentices and trainees in Finglas Training Centre yesterday to promote engagement in our annual FET Learner Survey. Huge thanks to Declan Hannigan, Tony Browne, Liz and the whole team for making an event of it and showing learners how important their feedback is, not just to their own centre but to the wider ETB and FET in general. The survey is live across all of our FET provision in City of Dublin ETB centres and with another 4 weeks before it closes, it's safe to say the response has been phenomenal, with over 2,000 learners engaging already. Some insights emerging so far: 🌟 Across programmes at Levels 5 & 6, approximately one third of learners have considered dropping out of their course at some point in recent months, with many citing the challenge of managing coursework with employment as a significant reason, followed by personal circumstances such as health or family related issues. 🌟 Despite this, satisfaction with courses/programmes and with centres remains very high, with learners most frequently citing the high quality of teaching, friendly environment, small class sizes, relevant course content and ability to apply their learning to real-world contexts as reasons for this. 🌟 Centres with really active student councils have seen the highest participation rates so far 👏 👏 👏 Huge thanks to the learners who've already participated and the staff and learner reps who've been actively promoting it in centres. #ThisIsFET #LearnerVoice #HaveYourSay #LearnerLeadership SOLAS (An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna) City of Dublin ETB City of Dublin FET College Northwest Campus, Finglas, Jamestown Rd

✅ One in five people in Ireland report as having a disability. Yet, did you know that between 70% to 80% of all disabilities are invisible? ✅ Last week, City of Dublin ETB held a webinar to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3rd). The webinar uncovered some highly insightful information on how we can all help to promote the rights and wellbeing of persons with disabilities. 🙌🏽Stephen Kelly, Managing Director of Ability Focus discussed how diverse disability is and shared key tips on how to create a more disability inclusive workplace. He also explained how disability awareness training programmes can help to challenge attitudes and any preconceived notions we so often have. Check out Ability Focus ➡️ https://zurl.co/sVSP ☑️City of Dublin ETB Chief Psychologist Stephen O’Neill gave a very interesting overview of the dimensions of wellbeing and their relevance to people with disabilities – emphasising the importance of prioritising our mental health.

Here at ETBI we are supporting our colleagues across the Further Education and Training sector who are acknowledging and taking part in presentations and talks for 'Consent Week'. Disclosing a negative experience can be really difficult. Here are some things you can say to support a friend! See ConsentHub.ie for more disclosure tips and support services. This post was created by Colleen Kyan, as part of the Active* Artists project, led by Eva O'Byrne from Active* Consent. #InternationalDayofConsent

➡️City of Dublin ETB provides access to college for adults with intellectual disabilities. ✅ Did you know that we are creating pathways to college for adults with intellectual disabilities through our WalkWays programme in Warrenmount Adult Education Centre with our partners in WALK? 👏🏽Today saw the launch of the promotional video for the ‘WalkWays with City of Dublin ETB’ programme. 🙌🏽We are especially thrilled to launch this video for WalkWays with City of Dublin ETB during College Awareness Week, 2024. A wonderful opportunity to introduce young adults with intellectual disabilities to an educational pathway designed to help them progress. ✅The programme supports learners at a pivotal transition point, bridging the gap between secondary school and further education. On the course, learners work towards QQI Level 4 certificates while developing independence, building essential skills and expanding knowledge, enhancing employability, and preparing for further study. 📺Watch this inspirational video to find out more ⬇️ https://zurl.co/mn9M #CityofDublinETB #ThisIsFet #collegeawarenessweek SOLAS (An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna)
