𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐀𝐂𝐋 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟-𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧: 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐚’𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐥𝐛𝐨𝐰 (𝐊𝐧𝐞𝐞) 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 🏃♂️💪 Three years ago, Muhanned Shahada, our Head of Project Management, faced the tough road to recovery after an ACL surgery. Fast forward to today, and he’s completed his first half-marathon. 🏅 It wasn’t just about recovering from injury—it was about redefining his approach to health, training, and life. With the help of AI, and wearable tech, Muha transformed a challenging setback into a positive outcome. 🤖✨ Starting from Square One: “I’ve never been a runner,” Muha shared. “In fact, I barely moved my feet. My workouts were mostly paddle, volleyball, and basketball. Running was a whole new world." After noticing his health was on a downward trend after his injury, Muha decided to sign up for a half-marathon in Málaga, Spain—just two and a half months away. Without much experience or preparation, he dove in. “I could barely run 500 meters without stopping. My lungs weren’t ready for it.” 🏃♂️💨 His New Coach: AI & Data Analysis: Muha used an Apple Watch to track his runs and the Nike Running app to monitor progress. But it was ChatGPT that became his unexpected coach. 🧠 “I’d take data from my runs—pace, distance, and heart rate—and feed it into ChatGPT,” he explained. “It analyzed my progress and adjusted my plan. Some weeks, it suggested tempo runs; other times, slow recovery runs. When I hit plateaus, it was ChatGPT that recommended tweaks to my cadence and pacing.” ⚡📊 This data-driven approach mirrored his professional work, noting how both involved gathering data, analyzing it and making improvements. “The structured, data-driven approach I used in my work felt natural to apply to my running, helping me optimize my progress efficiently.” 📈 Race Day: As luck would have it, Muha fell ill two weeks before race day, but he went ahead anyway. “The first few kilometers were tough. Everyone around me started at a fast pace, and it got into my head,” he recalled. “But I turned up the music, focused on enjoying the atmosphere, and found my rhythm.”🏃♂️ The cheering crowd and the surge of adrenaline propelled him forward. Crossing the finish line, Muha shared, "When the adrenaline kicks in, when everything kicks in your body, you just make it to the end." 🙌🎉 So, What’s Next? Now that the half-marathon is behind him, Muha is looking to the future. “I’ve lost 13 kilograms, and I’m feeling more confident. My next goals are to continue improving my fitness, maybe tackle a full marathon by the end of next year, and even return to skydiving.” 🪂✨ Muha added, “Going from a torn ACL to a half-marathon—it’s definitely been a ride. Who knows? Maybe one day, I’ll even consider an Ironman—just not yet!” 😅 We’re always inspired by a good use of data to optimize performance. 📊🏆 Have a story like Muha’s?
