About us
Apprenticeships are an exciting and proven way for employers to develop talent for their company and industry. Apprenticeships are designed by industry-led groups, supporting growth and competitiveness. Apprentices earn while they learn and build valuable work-ready skills in a chosen occupation. Apprenticeships open-up exciting and rewarding careers, with learning grounded in the practical experience of undertaking a real job. Apprenticeships have long been an accelerator for individual and corporate development in Ireland. Generation Apprenticeship is a major expansion project to more than double the number of learners, of all ages and backgrounds, taking the apprenticeship route. This promises to be a huge source of inspiration in opening apprenticeship into a full range of twentyfirst century industries and skill sets. Helping more people discover and develop their talents through training is at the heart of the national apprenticeship system.

Very proud of the #craftbutchery #apprenticeship, a 2 year programme leading to a Level 5 Certificate in Craft Butchery. Our #apprentices are trained by nationally and internationally recognised craft butchers and develop the knowledge, skills and competencies to be successful in their trade. Subjects covered include practical knife skills, manufacturing meat products, culinary skills, entrepreneurial skills, retail display, customer service and a final showcase project demonstrating what they have learned over the 2 years which is presented back to their mentors and employers. Delighted to see our award winning graduate apprentice James ETHERSON a great ambassador of the apprenticeship, featured in The Irish Times article - successfully following in his dad's footsteps. Any #employers interested in registering as a training partner and who would like their apprentices to be trained by the best in the country can contact [email protected] and speak to our National Programme Manager Julie Cahill Next intakes scheduled to commence in MSLETB Training Centre - Sligo and in Teagasc Dublin and Cork College of FET-Bishopstown Campus #GenerationApprenticeship Apprenticeship Ireland #Meat #Butchers #Butchery Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board Martin Browne Terry Whelan Adrian Sheerin Gerard O Callaghan

🚀Since 2017, over 600 #apprentices have been trained for employment in #Manufacturing sectors - with the programme continuing to grow. 🎯Fantastic news for #Dundalk and #GenerationApprenticeship skills talent with a welcomed expansion of Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeships at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) coming in Summer 2025 helping to drive and develop future talent in the East Coast. Well done to all involved!
“We are delighted to confirm that our manufacturing engineering apprenticeships will be available in Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) in Summer 2025, providing an exciting opportunity for employers on the east coast of Ireland to access this successful national programme which has been developed by industry, for industry” - said Trish Breen, Ibec announcing the expansion of the hugely successful Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeships to Dundalk Institute of Technology in 2025 today! The Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeships were developed by Irish Medtech, in collaboration with higher education institutions, Atlantic Technological University (ATU), Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), Munster Technological University (MTU), and representatives from across the medtech and manufacturing industries in Ireland, with the backing of the National Apprenticeship Office and the Higher Education Authority to help Ireland’s manufacturing sector to "grow their own" talent pipeline. The programme expansion will create a steady supply of skilled, work-ready graduates to meet industry needs. Since 2017, over 600 apprentices have been trained for employment in manufacturing sectors - and the programme continues to grow. 100 companies are now engaged and annual registrations are rising steadily. Congratulations to all involved, especially Dr. Paul MacArtain Breda Brennan Diarmuid O Callaghan and the team from DkIT.
