The time has come for tough talking and true leadership — 'The Irish Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act (2021) is genuinely world-leading in its intent, the challenge is to implement it rigorously ... we are failing as a State to rise to the climate change challenge and are on course to miss our legally binding carbon budgets for 2030' https://lnkd.in/ereJ9daw
About us
An Taisce The National Trust for Ireland was established in 1948 by Robert Lloyd Praegar, an Irish naturalist and historian. Praegar believed the protection of our heritage to be a responsibility shared by all the inhabitants of Ireland, but understood that an independent non-governmental body was required to join the people of Ireland in conserving and protecting Ireland’s heritage. Today, An Taisce continues to work as an independent, free from bias voice. An Taisce is a membership organisation and relies on you to become a member. As a member you automatically help strengthen An Taisce’s position on positive change across many areas of national importance, and it is your voice we represent. As a charity An Taisce relies on its members to help us fund our work. From our churches, our roads and our monuments, to our old bridges and manor homes; from our parklands to our deer, our waterways, and our flora & fauna, An Taisce works to protect Ireland and help her retain her identity as a country of natural and symbolic beauty, treasured not just by us but by millions of people around the world. Robert Lloyd Praegar had a vision in 1948 – to protect and preserve our heritage. An Taisce is Praegar’s legacy and us the people of Ireland, the benefactors. ‘Floreat Hibernia’

An Taisce reposted this
It's pretty depressing that after years of highlighting the weaknesses in the GAP regulations for protecting water quality against agricultural pollutants, to finally see it clearly reflected back in the Natura Impact Assessment, but to realise it still won't change anything. Great detail in this interview with An Taisce's Dr Elaine McGoff, PhD. on the critical problem of nitrogen pollution in waterways. How it affects water quality, breaking down the science and understanding the main factors contributing to it
It's rare I get a chance to really articulate my views on nitrogen water pollution on the radio, but this show hosted by Daniel Long and in the company of the very knowledgeable Donal Daly did exactly that. If you want to know what's actually going on with agricultural water pollution in Ireland, amid all the positive spin and bluster, have a listen to this: https://lnkd.in/eAh_WnUF
