Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Google Cloud expanded their long-term strategic relationship to accelerate Indosat's telco-to-AI Native TechCo transformation. Indosat's vast network, operational, and customer #datasets will be combined with Google Cloud's industry-leading unified AI stack to deliver exceptional experiences to over 100 million Indosat customers and enterprise-grade AI and generative AI solutions for Indonesian businesses, the duo said. When grounded in a communications service provider's securely managed and privacy-compliant data assets, AI agents and applications can augment human capabilities with powerful multimodal data analysis, pattern recognition, and recommendations to unlock new revenue streams, efficiencies, and #customer experiences. This agreement will focus the companies' innovation efforts on tailoring AI and GenAI solutions to Indonesia's particular market opportunities and challenges. Customer service modernization, dynamic content production and hyper-personalization, geospatial analytics and predictive modelling, enhanced network and IT operations, and back office transformation are examples. Google Cloud's Contact Centre AI solutions will give call centre workers GenAI capabilities to boost productivity, the release said. These solutions will deliver live call transcription, knowledge base-based replies, real-time conversation analysis, and post-call sentiment analysis to quickly, accurately, and effectively resolve customer issues. Google Cloud's custom machine learning models, trained on Indosat's extensive operational datasets, will empower #organisations across industries to make data-driven decisions about strategic expansion site selection, asset management, and proactive natural disaster mitigation. These analytics will also help Indosat identify locations with high development potential but low network coverage, enabling its strategic decisions to improve network capacity and bridge the digital divide between urban and remote communities. The Central Bank of The UAE (CBUAE) and Bank CTBC Indonesia (BI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in payment systems. Building on a previous MoU from November 2023, this new agreement aims to link the payment systems of the two countries, promoting faster, more efficient, transparent, and affordable cross-border payments. It will also establish a joint risk management mechanism, regulatory cooperation, and protection of user rights in compliance with each country’s laws. The next step involves creating a cooperation framework for local currency transactions (LCT) and payment systems, starting with Quick Response (QR) payments. Once implemented, the cross-border QR payment linkage will use direct local currency exchange rate quotations from appointed cross-currency dealer (ACCD) banks. This collaboration as a whole aims to make cross-border payments between Indonesia and the UAE cheaper, faster, more inclusive, and transparent.  Mobile fintech app usage in Southeast Asia has seen a dramatic increase, with penetration rates tripling since 2019, according to a recent report by UnaFinancial. As of May 2024, 49% of the region’s population is using mobile fintech apps, and this figure is projected to climb to 60% by 2030. Leading the charge is the Philippines, where mobile fintech penetration has reached 63% and is expected to grow to 72% by the end of the decade. Malaysia and Indonesia also show strong adoption rates at 55% and 49%, respectively, with Indonesia experiencing the highest growth rate in the past five years, rising from 9% in 2019 to 49% in 2024. The most popular fintech app segments in the region are digital wallets and payments, which account for 35% of the market, followed by mobile banking at 18%. Lending apps have shown the fastest growth, increasing from 1% in 2019 to 5% in 2024. However, investing and cryptocurrency trading apps remain less popular, each with only 2% penetration, likely due to global economic uncertainties. #FinTech #digital #Wallets #Payments #Lending

Indonesia’s largest private lender BCA recorded a 17.1 percent year-on-year (yoy) increase in loan disbursement to Rp 835.7 trillion in the first quarter of this year, which compares with Rp 713.8 trillion (US$43.9 billion) in the same period last year. Net profits at the bank and its subsidiaries also rose by 11.7 percent yoy to Rp 12.9 trillion in the first three months of this year. BCA kept its nonperforming loan (NPL) ratio well within safe limits at 1.9 percent, which is unchanged from the previous quarter.
