🌍📈 The Influence of ESG Factors on Investment Decisions 🌱🤝 As the Director of Innovation, I'm excited to share with you the growing importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors in investment decisions. 🌍📈 Investors worldwide are recognizing the significance of incorporating ESG criteria into their decision-making process. Why? Because ESG factors have the potential to create long-term value and manage risks. 🌱💼 Companies with strong ESG practices tend to exhibit lower risks and better financial performance over the long term. Environmental factors, such as a company's carbon footprint and resource efficiency, impact operational costs and regulatory compliance. Social considerations, including employee welfare and community engagement, bolster corporate reputation and resilience. Good governance, represented by transparent reporting and robust leadership, aligns with reduced incidences of fraud and corruption. 🌿👥🔒 Regulatory changes and market imperatives have also played a significant role in the expansion of ESG considerations. Governments worldwide are implementing policies that require greater transparency and accountability regarding ESG issues. Shareholder activism has risen, with investors using their influence to drive companies towards better ESG practices. 🌐📜 However, ESG investing faces challenges, including the lack of standardization in ESG metrics and reporting. Different rating agencies and financial institutions use varying criteria, leading to inconsistencies and confusion among investors. The issue of "greenwashing" also poses threats to the integrity of ESG investing, where companies superficially enhance their ESG profile without substantial action. 🚫🌿 Looking ahead, the role of ESG in investment decisions is expected to grow further. As more data becomes available and methodologies for evaluating ESG performance become more robust, investors can better quantify the impacts of these factors on financial outcomes. Financial innovation, such as green bonds and ESG-focused funds, will continue to evolve, offering more vehicles for sustainable investing. They emphasized transforming waste banks into social businesses and building networks between stakeholders. Currently, the participation rate is low at 3.24 per 1,000 population, making it difficult to meet the 30% waste reduction target. Convergence awarded ADM Capital a proof-of-concept grant for our Indonesian climate impact strategy, highlighting the role blended finance can play in driving private investments at scale while identifying the appropriate solutions in developing regions such as Indonesia.    With the Indonesian government focused on investment into agriculture to reduce emissions and poverty, and smallholder farms accounting for more than 85% of all cocoa, rubber and coffee production as well as 40% of all palm oil produced in Indonesia, ADM Capital believes that the strategy’s partnership model and financing for SMEs can contribute positively to Indonesia’s environmental and social agendas. Update from the 18th ASEAN Coordinating Committee Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (ACCMSME) Meeting hosted by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs of The Republic of Indonesia! On behalf of the Better Than Cash Alliance, our Southeast Asia Lead, Isvary Sivalingam, presented the findings of the ASEAN Policy Toolkit: The Trust Quotient. https://lnkd.in/gAWBkQzN   It was a pleasure to discuss the findings with an extended community of policymakers from the #ACCMSME. Thanks to the Ministry of Finance, Republic of Indonesia, ASEAN Working Committee of Financial Inclusion and The ASEAN Secretariat for the facilitation and continued engagement.   With the objective of informing ongoing policy initiatives to better support micro-merchants, this toolkit brings the voices of the micro-merchants and their experiences with DFS through a human-centered design (HCD) approach. Key recommendations included:   👉 Developing industry standards for recourse mechanisms tailored to small-value disputes, ensuring prompt and fair resolutions.   👉 Embedding DFS support into existing MSME programs to enhance financial literacy and confidence.   👉 Shifting the data privacy burden away from users by simplifying data disclosures, making DFS more accessible and transparent.   👉 Collecting gender-disaggregated data to address barriers faced by female merchants. 👉 Promoting user-centric pricing communication to enhance trust and understanding among micro-merchants.   Together, we can empower micro-merchants and advance inclusive digital finance across the region.   Let’s keep building a trustworthy and resilient digital payments ecosystem!
