[✨ Attending the ISEI Webinar: Circular Economy - Responsible Economic Development 🌱] On September 30, 2024, I had the opportunity to dive deeper into the concept of the Circular Economy in a webinar organized by Ikatan Sarjana Ekonomi Indonesia (ISEI). Here are some key insights I gained from the experts: 1. The Carbon Trading Mechanism – Jeffrey Hendrik explained how the carbon market in Indonesia can be an important tool in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to global climate change. 🌍 2. Circular Economy-Based Waste Management – Novrizal from KLHK emphasized the importance of more efficient waste management to reduce environmental impact. Waste is not just discarded, but can be processed and reused as new resources. ♻️ 3. Implementing Circular Economy in Industry – Andry Satrio discussed how innovation and sustainable product design can encourage industries to shift from a linear economy model to a more efficient and environmentally friendly economy. Here are some key points regarding ESG in Indonesia: - Sustainable Transformation: Indonesia is incorporating ESG principles into its business and economic strategies. A report by PwC highlights Indonesia's commitment to ESG, with a focus on sustainability and environmental leadership, especially during its 2022 G20 Presidency. - Regulatory Framework: The Indonesian government and financial authorities are proactive in creating conditions for ESG adoption. This includes regulations like OJK Regulation No. 51/POJK.03/2017, which guides companies in sustainable practices. - Digital Economy and ESG: The digital economy is seen as a driver for inclusive growth, with digital tools expected to widen access to healthcare, education, and financial services, thereby supporting ESG targets. - Sustainable Finance: Indonesia is pioneering thematic bonds and seeking to mobilize private funding for sustainable projects under the OJK’s Sustainable Finance Roadmap. - nternational Engagement: Indonesia's role in international forums like the G20 and COP26 showcases its engagement with global sustainability goals and its aim to reach net-zero emissions by 2060. The Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry called for increased community participation in waste banks to support the country's waste reduction goals. They emphasized transforming waste banks into social businesses and building networks between stakeholders. Currently, the participation rate is low at 3.24 per 1,000 population, making it difficult to meet the 30% waste reduction target. Understanding How to Connect Social Entrepreneurs with Investors in a More Strategic Way with TBN Indonesia Our vision in GoTo Impact Foundation is to catalyze impact creation in Indonesia. One of the ways to scale the impact is by working alongside #Changemakers who work with the grassroots to create impact. However, it is not such an easy job to settle. Many Changemakers do not have the much-needed reach to strategic networks, critical expertise, and impactful funding to execute their solutions. The role of the strategic connector becomes important, as it brings entrepreneurs and investors together to meet and talk about potential collaborations. TBN Indonesia is an organization that acts as a strategic bridge that connects social entrepreneurs and investors. Representing GIF,  Astri Arini Waluyo as the Head of Strategic Partnerships, met with Isaac Munandar and Andy Febrico Bintoro, who are on the Board of Governance of TBN Indonesia. KPMG Indonesia’s Risk Talk event on November 6 was full of meaningful conversations. Denni Puspa Purbasari, Executive Director of Prakerja, provided a compelling overview of Prakerja’s achievements. She highlighted how the program is revolutionizing G2P systems through a digital-first approach, promoting financial inclusion by integrating digital payment solutions for seamless fund distribution, and enabling equitable access to skills and opportunities for marginalized communities.
