On December 19, Resilience Development Initiative (RDI) attended an event to present the Jakarta Grand Design of Partnership to the Bureau of Partnership Affairs of DKI Jakarta with Ernst and Young (EY) Indonesia. This activity is part of a series of activities that have been going on since August involving various regional agencies in Jakarta. The Head of the Bureau of Partnership Affairs of DKI Jakarta, Marulina Dewi, opened the event by reading a report on the implementation of DKI Jakarta cooperation activities throughout 2024, followed by Setio Prabowo from EY Indonesia explaining the results of the Grand Design of Partnership. The symbolic handover was also witnessed by the acting governor of DKI Jakarta, Teguh Setyabudi, who gave remarks. Then, the activity continued with a panel discussion filled by representatives of the central government including Bambang Brodjonegoro (Special Advisor to the President for Economic Affairs), Abdul Malik Sadat Idris (Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Republic of Indonesia), and Heru H. Subolo (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia of Foreign Affairs). With this event, it is hoped that the resulting document can guide and support stakeholders in the newly established Special Region of Jakarta in exploring opportunities for partnership, helping to realize Jakarta's vision of becoming a global city. #JakartaGlobalCity #PartnershipForProgress #RDI

On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, Resilience Development Initiative (RDI) conducted an External Workshop to disseminate the result of consultancy research for UNHCR. The session was attended by representatives from UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, WHO, SUAKA, The Global Fund, and other key stakeholders. The discussion began with a presentation of RDI’s research findings titled: “Situation Analysis on Refugees’ Access to Healthcare, Including HIV, TB, and SRHR in Indonesia and Drafting Potential Solutions to Improve Access for Refugees.” This was followed by a robust exchange of insights among participants. The workshop provided valuable recommendations on advocacy mechanisms to engage local and central governments, as well as strategies to secure funding and financial support for improving healthcare access for refugees. The discussion also highlighted key issues related to regulation in handling refugees' issues, legal status, healthcare access and financial mechanisms for refugees in Indonesia. As a next step, the insights from this discussion will be compiled into a comprehensive final report. This report will be utilized as an advocacy tool to engage the Ministry of Health and other relevant government bodies, urging them to prioritize funding and streamline access to healthcare for refugees in Indonesia. RDI recognized the critical role of emission reduction in water and sanitation utilities. Represented by our Director, Dr Elisabeth Rianawati, we highlighted the severe pollution in Jakarta’s rivers caused by domestic wastewater and solid waste. The proposed solutions include wastewater treatment facilities, waste traps in river bodies, and solid waste management initiatives for riverside communities, which may significantly reduce emissions from water and sanitation sectors. By focusing on research-driven policy solutions and collaborating with various stakeholders, RDI delivered impactful strategies to improve water management, enhance sanitation access, and support climate mitigation efforts in vulnerable regions.
We are leaving easy #carbon on the table: carbon emissions from the #watersector are larger than for transport and airlines combined. Moreover, many #netzero approaches for #waterutilities actually increase revenue. How do we unleash #water for a low carbon future? That's the subject of this great session from #BakuCOP29 last month. Please enjoy! Coorganized by Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA), WINZ - Water Initiative for Net Zero, and French Water Partnership. Speakers include: - Ingrid Timboe, Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA) - Julieta Schallenberg (Deputy Regional Minister of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Energy, Government of the Canary Islands) - Thomas Schrøder (Director of Climate, Grundfos) - Elisabeth Rianawati (Director, Resilience Development Initiative (RDI)) Initiative - Reyes Tirado (Climate Bonds Initiative) - Abishek S Narayan (EAWAG and Climate Resilience Sanitation Coalition) - Rocher Vincent (Paris Sanitation authority) Special thanks to Josh Weinstein and Georgette Mrakadeh-Keane for their work in getting this session prepared!
