Google updated its spam filters causing cold email reply rates to drop by 35%+ on campaigns that did great. Here's what you need to know 👇 The 35% drop happened even if we already... ➡️ Set up sender authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) records ➡️ Were sending at low volume per email account ➡️ Had warmed up, perfectly healthy domains ➡️ Stopped tracking open rates ➡️ Stopped tracking link clicks ➡️ Sent text-only emails ➡️ Tested multiple ESPs Here's what actually caused it... 💡 Filtering based on the email's content This means that ESPs like Google are increasingly using AI algorithms to assess the content of the email and judge if it's spam. We've noticed that even words like "Hello" can have a negative effect, while words like "Hi" or "Hey" don't. Words like "unsubscribe", "guarantee", "free", "consultation", "risk-free", "trial offer", "get it now", "increase sales", "discount", "don't miss out", "land on the first page" all had negative effects and would contribute to emails getting marked as spam. Having an unsubscribe link made it WORSE, not better. In addition, emails that were both too long, or too short would also increase the chances of being marked as spam. Here's what you need to do to avoid the new spam filters: ✅ Don't write words in ALL CAPS ✅ Make it as conversational as possible ✅ Avoid urgency/pressure, no "act now" type of stuff ✅ Eliminate aggressive language, such as "guaranteed" ✅ Keep your email copy between 30 and 200 words at most ✅ Eliminate BULKY signatures like the one you can see below... __________________ Full Name | Position Company Name | Website Domain Address Mobile __________________ Once you do this, you'll notice that your reply rates will start climbing back up! P.S. You should never track "open rates" – how many people open your email is irrelevant, since those stats are never accurate now with all the privacy features. Just look at replies! P.P.S. Email Redesign 24/100 - norda run Here's how I would make Norda Run much more money with their welcome email. What makes this email a winner? 👇 Well, let's break it down: 1) New footer with links to relevant sites. 2) Title & CTA button above the fold to increase CTR and make the email look much better. Their current welcome email doesn't even have the CTA button. 3) Pretty much the same copy because it's short & sweet but I've added a promo code for 10% off their first order. In case brand isn't giving any incentives on the first purchase, this could be replaced with a short & relevant piece of copy. 4) Presenting 2 best-selling collections so it's easier for them to decide what they're looking for. 5) Again presenting 2 CTA buttons for Women & Men - the goal here is to remove friction from the buying process and make it as easy as possible for them to find what they're looking for. 6) Review with some UGC to add credibility to the brand and motivate subscribers to make that purchase. 7) Small 3 USP icons presenting the information about the shipping, returns, and other things. When this company came to us, they had a great PPC ad. It was eye-catching, clear, and got lots of people to click. But then we noticed something: when those people landed on the website, things didn’t quite match up. The message on the landing page didn’t align with what the ad promised and the page wasn’t as easy to use as it should’ve been. As a result, people clicked... and then quickly left. The ad had sparked interest, but the landing page didn’t deliver, so trust was lost and conversions dropped. 😕 Here’s what we did to fix it: 👉 We made sure the message in the ad and the landing page were the same. 👉 We made the landing page smoother and easier to navigate. 👉 We made sure the landing page delivered on what the ad promised. And guess what? Conversions started to rise! People trusted the message, stayed on the page, and took action. So your ad and landing page need to work together. If they don’t, you risk losing potential customers. A few small changes can make a huge difference! P.S. Are you paying attention to this?

GoTo was the first PPC Search Engine - they started in 1997 BEFORE Google and it was the only advertising medium for a while.Then Google got into Pay Per Click with AdWords which became the Google Ads we know today.The little book was sent out personally - I have it in front of me - that's how few of us there were in the space then back then This book must be worth a fortune People probably don't know GOTO - it started in the year 1997 - before that, we just used to use banners. GoTo were the first to successfully use auction-type bidding as a "Cost Per Click" Search Engine while Google just delivered Organic free search results ( SERPs ) - it was only long afterwards that Google came up with Google AdWords in 2000 which has remained right up to today. Why most a/b testing tools are suboptimal for $1mm-$3mm/year businesses. 1. No CHEAP bare-bones plan options. E.g., cheapest Convert plan is $399 a month for 100k monthly visitors $399 is probably more than most ecomm businesses pay for Shopify. So suddenly an a/b testing tool becomes the biggest tech stack expense? A $100-$200/month plan with the most basic features like visual/code editor and split URL testing, without customer support and fancy nice-to-haves, would make conversion rate optimization more accessible to more businesses. P.S. I love Convert. I use Convert. I recommend Convert. It's just an example. 2. No 6-month plans. Monthly plans = no discounts. Yearly plans = huge discounts. Most businesses starting out with conversion rate optimization can't commit to a yearly plan. But could commit to a 6-month plan, and, most likely, to a 3-month plan. If, let's say, a/b testing tools have noticed that most smaller businesses churn after 1-4 months, offering a 6-month plan would be a no-brainer? About that. Why not be open-minded and experiment with offers for smaller ($1mm-$3mm/year) businesses? Introduce a 6-month plan for a month, then remove it, and after 6 months analyze data to see whether it makes sense financially to reintroduce it. Do the same with a 3-month plan. Do the same with a cheap bare-bones plan. Sometimes it feels like a/b testing tools lack the thing they talk the most about - experimentation. P.S. I know nothing about running an a/b testing tool business; so I'm most likely wrong. Just sharing a possibly irrational sentiment that many smaller businesses starting out in experimentation feel. #conversionrateoptimization #abtesting #experimentation

They've reconnected with the gym community that fueled their initial success. They doubled down on what made them special in the first place. The takeaway here? Know your strengths and stick to them. Deepen your understanding of your competitors’ weaknesses. Not to copy, but to find your edge and leverage it. Then keep spreading your positioning, and eventually, people will remember you for it. When people know exactly what you stand for, you create your own market. And once you have that? We recently implemented #leadscoring for one client, and now everyone seems to be asking about it. So here a primer. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠? Lead scoring is the process of assigning numerical values to leads based on their actions, demographic information, and level of engagement. These scores help sales teams prioritize which leads are most likely to convert into customers, and are ideally set automatically. For many businesses, leads can vary greatly in terms of their readiness to purchase. A good lead scoring system uses both explicit and implicit data to separate those who are genuinely interested from those who are just browsing. Lead Scoring typically makes sense with companies that have a large number of leads and need better ways to prioritize them. As an example, let’s say we are scoring leads for a hardware company. 𝘌𝘟𝘗𝘓𝘐𝘊𝘐𝘛 𝘋𝘈𝘛𝘈, provided by the lead, could be: 🏢 Company size -  Larger companies may have bigger budgets and a higher likelihood of purchasing. 🏭 Industry - Some industries are more likely to need certain hardware solutions. 👩🏽‍⚕️ Job title - A CTO or IT Manager is more likely to make hardware decisions than someone in a marketing role. FIRST 100+ ORDER MONTH 🥂🚀🎮🎉 November ‘23: £4.3K / 30 Orders November ‘24: £16.8K / 101 Orders What I love most about these figures isn’t the volume. It’s actually the fact that only 16% of this months revenue came from Black Friday. That means the high majority of purchases came ahead of Black Friday at full price. That’s because we’ve built a product and a brand that has hype and people would rather pay full price to lock in their order now and get it sooner. We re-stocked a very popular upgrade mid-way through the month as a test. We added X10 to the site. They sold out within 12 hours. Volume is cool and it now gives us more to re-invest (as I always say, we haven’t taken a penny yet) but the real wins here are hidden behind that. We’ve not benefited from this business personally yet apart from the sheer excitement we have every month breaking records. My co-founder & I know this is what it takes. We’ll thank ourselves for not taking anything now when the business is making millions in future years. Time for the final festive push before we lock in to break new records in 2025 🚀🎄🌍

I did 7 audits with a total of $2M spent, and here are the 2 main mistakes founders made.. 1. Spending thousands on the wrong campaign objectives. In 4 out of 7 accounts, half of the budget was spent on Traffic or Awareness objectives. That's not okay. If you want sales or leads, you need to use the Sales or Leads objectives. That's why they exist - don't complicate things with ideas like, "We need to warm up our pixel," or "Traffic equals more sales." That's not how Meta works. If you tell Meta you want traffic, that's what you'll get - traffic, not sales or leads. 2. Not testing enough. I get it - if an agency charges for every new image, you might hesitate to invest in more creatives. But here's the truth: If you've spent 2x-3x your CPA and the results are bad, you need to keep testing new creatives until you find what works. Recently, I spoke with an agency founder who asked why they had a low ROAS (0.5 on a $30k spend). I looked at their account and saw they tested only 20 creatives. I told him, "Here's the problem - you’re not testing enough." He admitted the client didn’t want to pay for more creatives, so they ended up wasting money on ads that didn’t work. I thought, "Why ask me if you already know the issue?" It was a bit sad and funny because he paid for an audit even though he knew the problem. Or maybe he just didn’t want to admit it… A strange, sad, and funny situation. 👉🏻 When I start a partnership with my clients, they automatically get at least 30 static images per month. That’s included in my service because I know that if there is a lack of creatives, performance will drop. I find it funny when I hear that outbound doesn’t work for agencies… Outbound is how I built 2 agencies. In fact, after doing years of inbound, 15+ lead magnets, 3 live workshops run multiple times… It’s still outbound that gets 90%+ of our business. It’s true, inbound is what got our conversion rate to 80%. But it’s not giving us the traffic we need. So when I hear that outbound doesn’t work to me that’s like saying “nobody is helped by what my agency does, they’d be stupid to buy!” Some also say… “But people are too tired of so many messages, they don’t have time” Trust me, everyone has time for something that could help them. They wouldn’t be alive (or prosperous) if they didn’t make time for things that helped them. Your clients aren’t dumb… If they have problems you can solve, and they know you’re for real, they will be interested. So if it’s not working for you, either you’re not solving problems, or you don’t know how to communicate your value.

Lots of people are surprised when I say Bob and I do everything ourselves at PPC Mastery. Whenever I take a course or coaching, I often hear the same thing: "Hire a team. You'll grow much faster." But we decided to build this business around the 2 of us: - We don't have a team. - We answer every email ourselves. - We answer every question in The PPC Hub ourselves. We're doing lots of "unscalable" activities that could easily be outsourced. So why don't we do that? Here's 3 reasons: 𝟭. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵. We LOVE growing — personally, professionally, financially... But what we love even more, is preserving our lifestyle. Maximum freedom and flexibility are our most important success metrics. We don't do anything that gets in the way of that. 𝟮. 𝗪𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝘀. Managing a team is our worst nightmare and we would both suck at it. Even hiring a person who could build and manage a team would be a nightmare. Instead, we focus on our strengths: - Building A++ Google Ads products. - Building A++ Google Ads community. - Building A++ Google Ads content. Ultimately we just wanna do fun stuff and help Google Ads Specialists. And managing a team is not something we would enjoy. 𝟯. 𝗪𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. The best thing about the platform we're building (The PPC Hub), is that we are members ourselves. - We don't have a community manager. - We don't have someone on support. - We are in there every single day. We do a LOT of the unscalable, small tasks that could be easily delegated. We can pull it off together without a team. And in doing so, I believe we get even closer to the members in our community. Ultimately, freedom and flexibility is the goal for me. Sure, I want to grow as much as possible... But not at the expense of my ideal lifestyle. So whenever you're taking coaching from someone, truly ask yourself: Is the advice I'm getting aligned with my personal goals? The worst thing you can do is build something you don't enjoy working on. By staying small — just Bob & me — we make sure that PPC Mastery stays fun. And I think it shows in our products, content, and workshops.

Bait and Switch in Cold Email? After sending millions of cold emails, I can safely say that the “bait and switch” tactic is your NUCLEAR option… 💪 After all, your prospects aren't looking for you. They didn't Google your service. You're just another interruption in their already chaotic inbox. What is a “bait and switch”? 🎣 A “bait and switch” is when you “bait” your prospect with something super cheap and enticing, and use that to “switch” them to something more expensive. To see it in practice, here are my best “bait and switch” hooks that actually get replies: 🎣 “I'd be interested in sponsoring your event” 🎣 “I'd love to refer leads, let's discuss a partnership” 🎣 “I’ll get you no.1 on Google in 30 days or you don't pay” 🎣 “I have a lead for you - where can I send it?” But here’s where most people get this tactic wrong… The bait must be founded in truth, even if slightly exaggerated. That means no "guaranteed 10x ROI" nonsense—that instantly triggers BS detectors ❌ You see, the magic happens in the transition: Get them on a call with your hook Acknowledge their interest ("Looking at your business, I think there's an even better opportunity...")
