In book of (It’s the manager- from Gallup) in page 12 What exactly is difference between a lousy job, a good job and a great job? A lousy job is one in which you are underemployed, receive a very low wage and work less than 30 hours when you want to work full time. Gullup defines a good job as working full time for an organization with 30+ hours a week and a living wage paycheck. A great job has all the qualities of a good job but with one big differentiator: Employees are engaged in meaningful and fulfilling work and feel they are experiencing real individual growth and development in the workplace. People with great jobs have very different life outcomes. Besides booming your business, they inspire teams, solve problems instead of create them, volunteer in their community, have far better health and wellbeing, and have fewer workplace accidents and little to no mistakes and defects.

As a fellow HR professional with a background in psychology and post graduation in HR , I wholeheartedly agree with this perspective. In today’s dynamic work environment, the role of HR extends far beyond traditional responsibilities. We must prioritize the well-being and engagement of our employees, which requires skills such as empathy, active listening, and emotional intelligence etc . while certifications can provide a foundational understanding, it’s the skills that truly drive success in today’s competitive landscape. Let’s prioritize the broader skillsets that are shaping the future of the workforce. This century demands skills over certificates.

🎉 This week started with International HR Day! It’s the perfect time to acknowledge the HR profession, appreciate the value it brings to the organization and also shed light on a critical issue: burnout among HR Professionals 🚨 A recent article in HR Magazine highlighted a starling statistics: more than 50% of HR professionals are on the verge of quitting due to burnt out. 😑 The reasons are varied, but these are the most common ones I’ve heard from my colleagues: 🔹 Rapidly changing work environment and increased need for crisis management 🔹 Increasing workload and responsibilities vs pressure to perform 🔹 Emotional labor, especially when firefighting and managing sensitive situations 🔹 Constantly evolving compliance and regulatory demands 🔹 Lack of support and resources 🔹 And the cherry on top for many Ukrainian HR professionals – the challenges due to the ongoing war... While self-reflection is important, there are certainly steps business can take to address the issue: ✅ Resource Allocation: Ensure HR departments are adequately staffed and have the resources they need to manage their workload effectively. ✅ Training and Development: Provide ongoing training to help HR professionals stay updated with the latest compliance and market changes, reducing the pressure of constant adaptation in silos. ✅ Technology Solutions: Invest in HR technology that automates routine tasks, freeing up time for more strategic activities. ✅ Peer Support Networks: Encourage the formation of support groups or networks where HR professionals can share experiences and strategies for managing stress and critical issues. ✅ Work-Life Balance: Promote flexible working hours and ensure that HR professionals can disconnect after work hours to maintain a healthy work-life balance. ✅ Crisis and Change Management: Develop and implement robust crisis and change management plans that distribute the burden across the organization, rather than relying mainly on HR. Empower HR to advise and consult, engage them as partners without overburdening them with leadership responsibilities they are not equipped for. ✅ Support your HR: Trust, empower, and support HR in building systems and practices that lead to a better work environment, rather than only involving them when things go wrong. ✅ Recognition and Appreciation: Regularly acknowledge and appreciate the hard work and dedication of HR. Continous Learning and Development comes in many shapes and sizes. I am often reminding employees that much of their career development will come on the job, through the relationships they build, through new situations, and through projects and partnerships. It doesn't always require extra dedicated time. However, classroom learning is still important but it needs dedicated time to complete. To encourage our employees to step out of their daily work, our People Team hosted the 2nd annual Learning and Development Summit these past two weeks. Topics varied greatly including entrepreneurship, Artificial Intelligence, relationship building, storytelling, building resilience and more. It was an energizing and thought-provoking time and I look forward to the next summit!

„OMG it’s Monday!!!!“ Some (most?) people probably feel like this:   😱 😖🤯 Others like this:  🤩 💪🔥 For both it’s Monday. For both the weekend is over.  But still there is a difference. 1. Do you know that it is NOT your circumstances, not your environment, not your job, not your boss, not your colleagues, not your family, or who or whatever that decides how you feel (and think) about Mondays (and by the way everything else ins your life;-)? 2. And do you know that - even you know this - this does not necessarily lead to a change? For making a difference, for creating a lasting change we need to apply the knowledge and translate it into action. 3. And do you know that 1.& 2. are ALWAYS YOUR decision?!?! 😁 This is the basis of positive leadership. Awareness. Responsibility. Commitment. Good HR is always significantly important to any enterprise.

Working in HR my entire career, these are the things I never thought would make a big difference, and they ended up making a huge one: - How well I can organize myself, my time and resources, my team, my tasks and knowledge. This is, and remains, a game changer for how well I can perform. - My ability to eloquently represent my ideas and projects, how visually appealing my presentation is, how easily it can be digested by others, how memorable the knowledge transfer is etc - Knowledge about markets, trends, business, stocks, PR, compliance, you name it. All of those side roads that made me dominame the main one. - Feedback reception and feedback delivery! If you are looking to upgrade your career, or if you are just starting to make your mark, it's not only your expertise in a certain topic that will make you stand out. The best of the best fade in comparison to a mediocre worker who is eloquent, well organized, can understand criticism and can make a killer slide deck. Not to mention one who knows their way around an Excel sheet! And this is true for all industries, roles, seniority. Never, ever, ever underestimate the power of a soft skill, let alone of a person who has them all.

🆙 In light of the new EU Directive, the topic of pay transparency is gaining prominence in discussions about fairness and equality at work. ❓ Is pay transparency the key to improving compensation systems in organizations and reducing gender pay gaps? What benefits and challenges do compensation specialists see regarding it?
