Hand-cranked charcoal forge (7” cast iron bowl).
Ballpeen hammer, chipping hammer, vise grips, channel locks, and two pliers.
You just need an anvil.
Fill with lump charcoal, light, bury metal, and crank to produce very high heat (2500F+).
The bowl is a little small to make any serious project.
You can only really heat 4 inches of material at once.
It is also easy to let it get too hot and cook out your carbon when working with steel.
Spits cinders, so an outdoor space and eye protection is a must (see pic - Don’t do this on a lanai like I did, that was a teachable experience.
)
I had some fun with this making a few corkscrews (see pic - item not included), a small knife, hanging hooks, and a few little twisted steel ornaments.
Thought in the end it wound up being used exclusively to sear sous-vide steaks.
