(Formerly AIG-Huatai) announced reductions in management and custodian fees for large-cap ETFs. From September 24 to November 18, only 53 of 536 enhanced index funds surpassed their benchmarks. ‼️MAS Commits up to S$100 Million to Support Quantum and Artificial Intelligence Capabilities in the Financial Sector‼️The Quantum track will comprise the following grants: ➡️ Technology Centres grant – This supports the establishment of quantum computing and security innovation functions in Singapore, to enable financial institutions and global technology companies to explore and unlock new opportunities arising from quantum technologies. This grant will provide funding support of up to 50% on manpower and other qualifying expenses such as hard/software infrastructure, subscriptions and licenses, for a period of 24 month. ➡️ Technology Innovation grant – This comprises two sub-tracks to support adoption of quantum technology solutions by financial institutions. The first sub-track aims to catalyse meaningful institutional use cases that bring about significant impact to business. The second sub-track will support strategic endeavours to solve relevant industry-wide problem statements. Up to 50% co-funding support will be provided to advance the exploration and implementation of such quantum solutions. ➡️ Security grant – This aims to enhance cyber security readiness to better prepare our financial infrastructure and services for the quantum era. Funding support of up to 30% will be provided to enable experimentation and development of quantum technology-related pilots that explore the use of Post-quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) to safeguard firms’ critical data. MAS will enhance the existing AI and data grant scheme under FSTI 3.0. to ➡️ Bolster financial institutions' development and deployment of AI technologies in Singapore – Singapore has the potential to become a centre of excellence for anchoring AI capabilities, such as in the development of applications, as well as testing and deployment of AI solutions for the financial sector. MAS will support financial institutions in establishing AI innovation centres in Singapore for a range of functions. (…) ➡️ Develop AI platforms to address industry wide use cases – There are strong prospects for the financial industry to apply AI to solve industry-wide problems beyond what each financial institution can do individually. This involves the development of frameworks and platforms for policies and protocols that enable secure and privacy-protected data exchange where financial institutions can collaborate on industry-wide use cases. For example, MAS has identified scam and fraud detection as a use case for the first pilot project, and will work with banks, technology solution providers and public agencies on this. Today’s China Top Five:   💡 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 Large ETF managers such as China Asset Management Co., Ltd., E Fund Management Co.,LTD., Harvest Fund Management and Huatai-PineBridge Fund Management Co., Ltd. (Formerly AIG-Huatai) all added more than RMB60bn in non-MMF AUM in 1Q24 to solidify their places in the top tier. Including MMFs, there are now six FMCs that manage more than RMB1tr, with Bosera Asset Management Co. the latest to join this group.   💡 𝗝𝗣 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗹𝗲 The J.P. Morgan wholly owned securities company onshore named Lu Fang as the chairman of the board, replacing Park Pu. Greg Yu has also been promoted to general manager whilst also retaining his existing remit as head of equities. JP Morgan has had full ownership of the venture since 2021.   💡 𝗖𝗦𝗜 𝗔𝟱𝟬 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 Several managers established their CSI A50 ETF feeder funds on April 23. Among them, E Fund raised the most – attracting RMB1.5bn from almost 80k investors. Fullgoal Fund Management Co., Ltd., Ping An Fund and Da Cheng each also raised over RMB600m; the latter will also add a new share class to its feeder on April 26.   💡 𝟭𝗤𝟮𝟰 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 As of the end of March, RMB1.9tr of public pension funds had been centralized at NCSSF for management, with plans to continue to increase this figure. Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security also highlighted ongoing efforts to refine the Pillar Three commercial pension program.   💡 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗨𝗠 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 Bank wealth management AUM is estimated to have increased by almost RMB2tr so far in April.
