  • East Asia Super League held its first-ever Macau Classic at the sold-out Studio City Macau's Studio City Event Center. Before the games on Dec. 11, EASL hosted its Advisory Board meeting with Commissioners and Representatives from all partner organizations, including the B.LEAGUE (Japan Professional Basketball League), KBL, PBA, P. LEAGUE+, and FIBA. The Board discussed the successes and growth achieved since the start of the season and outlined plans to expand the league with new member leagues for the 2025-26 season — further solidifying the foundation for EASL’s growth and its commitment to elevating basketball in Asia. Present at the meeting were EASL CEO Henry Kerins, all four EASL Vice Presidents, and key representatives: · Hagop Khajirian, Executive Director, FIBA Asia  · Charles “Blackie” Chen, Deputy Commissioner of the P. LEAGUE+ · Ryan Chen, P. LEAGUE+ International Relations Manager · Shin Hae Yong, Korean Basketball League Secretary General · Chihiro Saito, Manager of the International Group of the Japan Professional · Basketball League · Willie Marcial, Commissioner Philippine Basketball Association · Quinito Henson of the Philippine Basketball Association “EASL’s Macau Classic isn’t just about thrilling basketball. It’s a powerful example of how sports and entertainment go hand in hand, especially within the Greater Bay Area,” Kerins said. “Our partners at Studio City Macau and Melco Resorts & Entertainment have been nothing short of extraordinary. Their passion and professionalism in hosting high-level basketball in Macau is unparalleled and we are grateful for their support.”  In Game 1, the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots defeated the Suwon KT Sonicboom. In Game 2, the New Taipei Kings took down the Macau Black Bears led by former NBA star Jeremy Lin’s 27 points. “I feel like EASL has gotten better,” Lin said postgame. “They added a fifth team to each group. For (the New Taipei Kings) the competition is getting better and better…This is high-quality basketball being played and you have the best teams in from all the leagues (around Asia).” The EASL Macau Classic underscores the league’s commitment to establishing the GBA and Macau as premier hubs for sports and entertainment in Asia. In partnership with Studio City Macau and Melco Resorts & Entertainment, EASL is proud to bring world-class basketball to the region, showcasing its growing significance in the global sports landscape. EASL remains dedicated to building a stronger platform for basketball and fostering community growth across the GBA. EASL returns on December 18th  with two exciting matchups in Busan, South Korea, and Hong Kong SAR. • Two thrilling East Asia Super League (EASL) games took place on Dec. 4 in Okinawa, Japan, and Suwon, South Korea.    In Okinawa, the Ryukyu Golden Kings put on a stellar performance, defeating the defending Korean Basketball League champions, the Busan KCC Egis, to extend their undefeated run to 3-0. The packed crowd at the Okinawa Arena — an impressive venue with a 10,000-fan capacity — was electric, as their team matched its three-win record from last year’s EASL campaign. Now perched atop Group B, the Golden Kings are poised for their first-ever Final Four berth. Remarkably, they are the first Japanese team to start 3-0 since the Chiba Jets’ championship-winning season in 2023-24. Could history repeat itself?   Meanwhile, in Suwon, the Suwon KT Sonicboom bounced back from a tough loss to the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots on Oct. 23 by edging out the visiting Hiroshima Dragonflies in a nail-biting finish. The win elevated KT to 2-1 and second place in Group A, strengthening their position and boosting their chances of securing a coveted spot in the Final Four.   Midway through the 2024-25 season, the competition is intensifying as the league heads toward its most anticipated event yet: the Macau Classic. On Dec. 11, EASL will bring together the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots, Suwon KT, the Macau Black Bears, and the New Taipei Kings, led by Jeremy Lin, for a midseason doubleheader showcase. This promises to be a defining moment in the season and a celebration of the best in Asian basketball.   With every game, the EASL continues to deliver on its promise: Where Champions Clash. The road to the Final Four is heating up. The Macau Classic is less than a week away. You won’t want to miss what’s next.    #EASL #WhereChampionsClash #SuwonKT #HiroshimaDragonflies #RyukyuGoldenKings #BusanKCCEgis #BLEAGUE #KBL #MacauClassic #OkinawaArena #SuwonKTSonicboomArena

The Hiroshima Dragonflies secured an 88-75 victory over the Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Team at Southorn Stadium in Hong Kong, while the Ryukyu Golden Kings narrowly defeated the Macau Black Bears, 96-93, at Studio City Macau. "Bringing our league to Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR for the first time was a powerful milestone, and I'm incredibly proud of our team's effort and the enthusiastic response from the fans,” EASL’s Chief Executive Officer Henry Kerins said. “This was EASL’s first time simultaneously hosting two games in the GBA, and we are excited about the league's future expansion plans as we push further into more cities in the GBA to capitalize on the huge demand for premium sport and entertainment." • Two spectacular East Asia Super League (EASL) upsets took place on Wednesday, Oct. 23 during group stage games. In Suwon, South Korea, the Korean Basketball League’s Suwon KT Sonicboom hosted the P. LEAGUE+'s Taoyuan Pauian Pilots. Despite being in hostile territory, Taoyuan pulled off a surprise 91-70 rout of KT to clinch its first-ever EASL win. Pauian Pilots’ forward Treveon Graham led all scorers with 32 points while guard Pai Yao-Cheng impressed with a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double. The Pauian Pilots currently sit atop the Group A standings, tied with the B.LEAGUE (Japan Professional Basketball League)'s Hiroshima Dragonflies. Over in Chinese Taipei, former NBA sensation Jeremy Lin and the New Taipei Kings 新北國王職業籃球隊 tipped off their second consecutive EASL campaign against the Macau Black Bears. Macau, which lost its season opener on Oct. 2 as part of the league’s Tip-Off 2024 event, entered the matchup as significant underdogs. But led by forward Jeantal Cylla’s 32 points and point guard Damian Chong Qui’s 23 — 14 of which came in the fourth quarter — the Black Bears grabbed a 109-97 statement win to improve to 1-1. During the fifth and sixth games of the young 2024-25 EASL season, the league has once again demonstrated its capacity to serve as the premier stage for showcasing the best basketball in Asia. “What we saw on Wednesday (Oct. 23) was the pinnacle of our motto: Where Champions Clash,” EASL Head of Philippines and VP of Business Development Lorenz "Banjo" Albano said. “Suwon KT and New Taipei did a fantastic job in creating an elite live-game atmosphere for some of Asia’s best regional basketball talent. Expect more upsets, highlight plays and underdog stories as EASL continues to ascend.” EASL returns to action on Oct. 30 with a game each in Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR.
