In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and /or other safety regulatory authorities, HP announced voluntary product recall and rebate programs for some HP Fax machines distributed in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Recall programs were announced on the following dates.

January 31, 2012 for the HP Fax 1040 and 1050
June 26, 2008 for the HP Fax 1010 and 1010xi

HP believes that some types of failures of these products may pose a potential safety hazard to customers. In those instances the power supply can overheat, posing a fire and a burn hazard. HP customers who own an HP Fax 1040, HP Fax 1050, HP Fax 1010 or HP Fax 1010xi should disconnect the fax machine from the electrical power source and validate your fax machine above to participate in the rebate program. We are taking this action as part of our continued commitment to safety and the highest quality service to all of our customers.
