Much has been said about the new MPR of 27.25%, but with CRR at 50% of deposits with CBN, banks are left to create risk assets with the remaining 50%. With low liquidity, will banks be keen to lend and at what cost? This could potentially slow down economic activities. Will CBN release reserved cash when needed or use the liquidity for risky Africa loans? The limited funds for risk assets may lead to reduced activity in the real sector, potentially causing layoffs, price hikes, and bad debts. It seems the CBN has exhausted all monetary policy options to address the inflation issue. The call for fiscal policy intervention arises, but with reports of Nigeria's financial constraints, where should the focus shift next?

Dangote's entry into the oil and gas industry is appearing to be the game changer to indigenous participation in that sector.His preferred Investment in Refining,is timely as it will be a major positioning that will bring forth great benefit at a time the advance World appears to be gambling with the idea of either doing away with combustible fossil fuels or not.Enjoying the privilege of being the richest black man on Earth, Dangote's name is synonymous with Cements, Sugar and Noodles productions before now.He was rumoured to be enjoying the backing of some supper men in Government,who overtime has aided him in monopolising the areas he invested into or empowered him financially (rumoured and not proven). The Nigeria success story as an oil producing Nation,is majorly in Investments made in the Upstream sector of the industry.The multinationals of Mobil, Chevron,Agip,Elf,Shell and others came primarily to be contractors to the National Petroleum Company (NNPCL).Outside Shell who was believed to have build one or two Refineries before handing over to the Federal Government, others are only into Drilling and Productions in FPSO's and subsequent lifting to bigger barges for eventual exportation.Not much activities went into the downstream sector of the industry particularly "Refining" by them. Dangote building of a $20Billion Refinery appears to be changing the narrative,as he will in no distance time launch himself into a Global player and competitors in the international space.He has started looking beyond the Nigeria/Africa market to source for his Crude,as Bloomberg just reported his interest in purchasing over 2Million Barrels per month from West Texas Intermediate Midland Crude Oil of at least 24million barrels for a period of one year,commercing from July. Speaking recently,Alhaji Aliko Dangote has come up with a cheering news that,from June this year Nigeria will have no need for importing a litre of petrol(popularly known as PMS).He also disclosed that the Refinery has enough gasoline to give to the entire West Africa and diesel to give to West and Central Africa.In addition to having Aviation Fuel that will go round the Continent and export to Brazil and Mexico. Continuing,he said in four years from now, Africa will be self-sufficient and have no need importing Fertilizer from nowhere else ,as in the next 20-months they will be doing 6million tonnes of potash, phosphate and urea.
