Tech Needs Girls is a mentorship program where we teach underprivileged girls from 6-18years to code and create technology. We have trained over 20,000 women and girls in 13 regions in Ghana and expanded our impact to Burkina Faso. With our experience we developed an interactive coding and human-centered design curriculum with support from a team from Dartmouth College We offer technical courses in computer basics, web development, mobile app development and blogging &Ecommerce. Courses run from 6-8weeks for 2 hours during the week and on weekends. We have classes for children from 5-17 years and adults from 18-75 years. We also offer soft skills training in Human-Centered Design, entrepreneurship, leadership, etiquette and presentation skills. After the training students are offered the opportunity to intern and access to job opportunities. Students also get the opportunity to be connected with a network, funding and skills to start their own business. Since the academy started we have expanded our curriculum to work with boys and children with disabilities. We also work with adults. We have taught deaf children and children with autism how to code & create technology
