  • In the face of climate change, coastal communities face unique challenges like erosion, flooding, and biodiversity loss. The Coastal Resilience and Sustainable Livelihood Initiative (#CRESLI) focuses on equipping these communities to adapt and thrive through skill-building, education, and collaboration. By providing alternative livelihoods and fostering strong relationships with traditional authorities, CRESLI empowers communities to absorb shocks and adapt to unforeseen disasters. This approach ensures economic stability while promoting sustainable practices to mitigate climate impacts. Building resilience requires collective effort. Through education and innovation, CRESLI envisions a future where coastal communities are not only prepared for climate challenges but thrive sustainably. Join us tomorrow in the Volta Region of Ghana, New Kedzi to be specific as we engage the community on this project. See you.

  • Stakeholder engagement and community entry are the foundation for the success of the Coastal Restoration and Sustainable Livelihood Initiative (#CRESLI) project. Engaging communities early fosters trust, ensures alignment with local priorities, and promotes ownership, which is essential for long-term sustainability. Meaningful participation allows stakeholders to voice their needs and ideas, ensuring solutions are practical, culturally appropriate, and impactful. Key stakeholders include chiefs and traditional leaders, chief fishermen, the Forestry Commission, the Fishermen Council, and other relevant actors. Their collective insights are invaluable in shaping project strategies, addressing community-specific challenges, and ensuring that interventions align with environmental conservation and socio-economic needs. Effective collaboration with these stakeholders ensures the successful diversification of livelihoods and reduces pressure on degraded Nature-Based Solutions like mangroves. This approach builds local resilience, enhances accountability, and ensures the community benefits from restored ecosystems and new economic opportunities. Together, we can empower coastal communities to thrive, restore ecosystems, and build sustainable, climate-resilient futures. #StakeholderEngagement #CommunityDevelopment #ClimateResilience #SustainableLivelihoods #CRESLI

  • On Industry day at COP29 Azerbaijan #Baku, where world leaders convened to discuss the way forward on #ClimateFinance, Green Growth Africa Network (GGA_Network) seized the opportunity to share perspectives on how the UNDP led program “Young Africa Innovates” is driving Climate Innovation especially among young atypical people in Ghana. We gave highlights of climate crises faced in Ghana and emphasized how the Young Africa Innovates project is building the next generation of frontline Climate Heroes amongst rural and urban poor communities. As partners on the project , We believe, “ until front-liners are empowered to scale up their initiatives and solutions, the battle against climate change will remain a devastating defeat where vulnerable communities are most affected“ This event took place at the Implementation Lab (ILAB) at COP 29 under the #Marrakech partnership and was organized by the High-Level Climate Champions, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Green Growth Africa Network (GGA_Network) Share with us your thoughts . • "Nothing with us, without us" That is our anthem, underscoring the importance of youth participation in climate decision-making. The outcomes of the Conference of the Parties (COP) directly affect youth and vulnerable individuals in our communities, who will bear the long-term impacts of climate change. Youth are pivotal in this era of climate action and deserve a seat at the decision-making table. To ensure meaningful participation, access to funding for youth to attend these conferences and voice their perspectives is critical. We must move beyond greenwashing, youth washing, and tokenism; it is unacceptable that, at the 29th COP, we are still reiterating calls for genuine youth inclusion. Youth bring energy, fresh perspectives, hope, and innovative ideas and these are assets that are invaluable for addressing climate challenges. Thank you, Candy Darkwa, for championing youth inclusion and amplifying the call for a future where young voices are integral to climate action. • #Technological innovation is a vital force in the fight against climate change, and the Young Africa Innovates project in Ghana exemplified this truth. Green Growth Africa Network (GGA_Network) a partner on the project delivered a spirited case study on how the Mastercard Foundation ; UNDP Ghana led project , “Young Africa Innovates “ is catalyzing Climate Innovation in Ghana amongst atypical people. In today’s world, innovation is not just a luxury; it is a necessity. It provides the tools and alternatives that communities and nations need to adapt, thrive, and advance their economies sustainably. Through this project, we witnessed firsthand how creative solutions and technological breakthroughs can empower communities to overcome climate-related challenges and build resilience. By fostering a culture of innovation, we are paving the way for new opportunities. opportunities that will drive sustainable development, create jobs, and protect the planet for future generations. The Young Africa Innovates project stands as a testament to what is possible when we combine resources, vision, and the unyielding determination of young changemakers. Together, we can transform climate challenges into opportunities and chart a sustainable course for Africa’s future.

  • At Green Growth Africa, our mission to empower #Ghana’s rural and urban poor communities stands at the core of everything we do. This commitment was proudly showcased during the press conference held at the #Natavan Press Conference Room and other engagements at COP29 Azerbaijan where we shared our vision and the unwavering zeal with which we execute our responsibilities. Across the communities we serve, the effects of climate change are relentless flooding, rising temperatures, and their cascading consequences are taking a devastating toll. These challenges bring with them diseases, loss of lives, and the erosion of livelihoods, leaving already vulnerable populations; women, children, and persons with disabilities at an even greater disadvantage. These struggles deepen poverty and further exacerbate inequality. At the press conference, we carried the voices of these communities to the world. It was an honor to highlight their resilience and share how we are equipping them to adapt to climate change. From building capacity and fostering innovative solutions to creating sustainable, climate-resilient livelihoods, we are working tirelessly to transform #vulnerability into strength. The event was a powerful moment, shining a light on the pressing challenges communities face and demonstrating how collective action, when fueled by passion and purpose, can spark real change. We invite everyone governments, organizations, and individuals to join us in this mission to drive sustainable development and create a future where no one is left behind. Together, we can rewrite the story of resilience and hope for Ghana and beyond. #COP29 #Azerbaijan #Adaptationfinance #ClimateJustice #Resilience

  • Today is Youth Day at COP29 Azerbaijan, and our demands are clear and urgent: #Youth must be at the heart of climate action! As the generation that will bear the most severe impacts of the climate crisis, we cannot afford to be sidelined from the decisions being made today. These decisions will shape our future, and our exclusion undermines the principles of fairness, equity, and sustainability. Inclusion of youth is not just about representation; it brings fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and renewed energy to the fight against climate change. Youth are catalysts for transformative solutions, offering hope and resilience in the face of escalating global challenges. It is time to fully integrate youth into all processes of the UNFCCC UN, ensuring that their voices are heard, valued, and acted upon. Our demands are simple: ♻️ Youth Representation: A seat at every decision-making table where climate policies are designed and implemented. ♻️Capacity Building: Investment in programs that equip young people with the skills and tools needed to lead climate solutions. ♻️Intergenerational Dialogue: A commitment to fostering collaboration between youth and seasoned climate leaders for inclusive and holistic approaches. ♻️Resource Allocation: Financial and technical resources to empower youth-led initiatives, innovations, and research addressing the climate crisis. The fight against climate change is a collective responsibility, but youth bring unparalleled determination and vision. By embracing youth leadership, we unlock a future filled with innovation, adaptability, and hope. Let us act now together. The time to bridge the generational gap and unite for a sustainable planet is today. #YouthDay #COP29 #ClimateActionNow #YouthVoicesMatter #SustainableFuture #IntergenerationalEquity #ClimateJustice #UNFCCC #FreshPerspectives
