Thank you La Tribune and Boris Georgelin for welcoming me at the 2024 AéroForum to discuss the very important notion of ecosystem when it comes to creating the future decarbonized aerospace industry with Stéphane Viala and Isabelle Laplace.   Ecosystems are at the core of H3 Dynamics's DNA as we are creating the bridges between the #hydrogen and the #aerospace industry. They are also essential in order to design complex, performant and certifiable fuel cell systems as we need to work with different partners to meet the expectations of OEMs and regulation agencies.   Hydrogen will play a key role in decarbonizing aviation, either directly with fuel cell systems or indirectly as it is a crucial element in the production of e-SAF. It is time for the stakeholders to organize themselves in order to maintain the pace of decarbonization essential to our sector. Ten years after its creation, the Science-based target initiative (SBTi) has validated the climate objectives of over 4,000 companies, establishing itself as a key label for climate commitment. However, on April 9th, this year, the organisation's Board of Trustees announced its intention to authorise the use of "Environmental Attribute Certificates", including carbon credits, to achieve scope 3 emissions reduction targets. This announcement has sparked indignation among many climate action players, insofar as it negates the SBTi’s raison d'être, tarnishes the credibility of companies that have complied with it, and dangerously delays the collective action needed for the ecological transition. Yesterday I had the privilege to attend the conference ‘Révolution ou évolution, l’IA générative ? The Challenges of Generative AI’ with a talk from Dr. Luc JULIA, the chief scientific officer (CSO) at Renault group and co-creator of Siri, with my colleagues from the MSc SmartEdTech programme. - What are the limits and potentials of generative AI? - How can we use it meaningfully? - What are the implications for humanity and environment with these technologies? were some of the main questions he had raised, but according to him, one of the biggest challenges in the future of Generative AI is education on how to use these emerging technologies. 💪 Feeling really grateful to have participated in this reflection that will further help me understand, use and implement responsible, meaningful and ethical practices of Generative AI in my work, and implementing this with my collegaues and team at Institut Lyfe (Ex-Institut Paul Bocuse). Quick update on SFE Space Drive Research. I took a delay in building the latest system after I realized that I was not seeing the trees from the forest and needed to take a step back and look at the big picture. Once I did that I realized I was missing something. So, I crunched some numbers and quickly ordered some new components. It turns out that I could make a much better version of the new system if I swapped some components out. So, now I'm back on track and proceeding with the building phase. FYI, even if this new system proves the Engineering Force Scaling Model correct, this does not mean that the technology will find itself in the market. At this point, I have no need for SFE Space Drive Research to succeed. Gravitec Inc's focus is much broader than SFE at this point. So, if it never makes it to market that's okay. I rather see Humanity and the US benefit from such a discovery, but the Inertia of the Scientific community to accept a discovery that their theoretical models don't predict makes this kind of work very difficult, to say the least. So, I'm more than happy to keep self-financing the research as a way to satisfy my personal curiosity. There is no clear path from laboratory success to the Aerospace Market. We are excited to announce that 4colors Research has been selected as the winner of the Airbus x BMW Group Quantum Computing Challenge in the Quantum Optimization track. We deeply appreciate this recognition and are delighted that our solution has been acknowledged by industry leaders and esteemed jury experts. For this competition, we developed an advanced framework that integrates novel quantum algorithms specifically designed for this challenge, alongside machine learning and classical optimization approaches. While our solution is designed to harness quantum computing in the future, it is already capable of running entirely on classical resources to solve complex business problems, including production planning, network optimization, and supply chain management. It has been an absolute pleasure working on this project with Konstantin Kutzkov 🇺🇦 and both of us greatly valued the opportunity to collaborate with experts from Airbus, BMW Group, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to refine our approach. #AI, #Aero, Safran buys AI firm Preligens for 220 million euros French jet engine maker Safran said that had struck a deal to buy AI firm Preligens for 220 million euros ($243.3 million).   Preligens, which specialises in artificial intelligence for aerospace and defense, will be renamed Safran.AI and will become a part of the Safran Electronics & Defense business area.   It develops complex algorithms and software to analyse and automatically detect and identify objects of military interest using commercial and government satellite imagery, Safran said.   "By combining our strengths, we're determined not only to support the development of Preligens' AI solutions, but also to jointly open up entirely new areas of AI application in aviation, defense and space,” CEO of Safran Electronics & Defense, Franck Saudo, said in a press release. #AI, #RB

Wrapping up an inspiring day at the #SpaceTechExpoEurope2024 with Claudia Kessler! 🚀✨ This year’s expo was bigger and more vibrant than ever, showcasing the incredible growth and energy of the European space industry. It was exciting to see so many New Space companies making significant strides, with several already in impressive growth phases. The atmosphere? Absolutely buzzing with positivity! 🌍💫 Key topics like space connectivity and access to space dominated the discussions—whether through launchers, space planes, or zero-g experiments. The focus on small satellites and their components stood out, with a special spotlight on COTS for Space as a game-changer in the industry. 🌌📡 A heartfelt thanks to the teams at Rohde & Schwarz, Isar Aerospace, The Exploration Company, POLARIS Spaceplanes, Beyond Gravity, TESAT, and so many others for the fascinating conversations and valuable insights. 🙌 I also was happy to meet Martin Hoppe – he introduced me to the new features of RePoSyD. An exciting design tool, and the discussion about it was truly fascinating! Additionally, I had an inspiring conversation with Emir Gadzo from Universität der Bundeswehr München, about the fascinating satellite project SeRANI. The project explores various technologies for data exchange and connectivity in both civilian and military applications. We ended this exciting day with a great beer at the Czech Space Alliance stand 🍻 and then bid farewell to Bremen. There are 5 dimensions that influence your innovation and execution. This week we will touch on each one. Dimension 5 - Offering (HW, SW, Service) The type and complexity of the offering you have requires adjustments to your innovation strategy, particularly in the discovery and development stages. Complex, HW systems can require more thorough long term planning and clearly defined requirements than SW and services. Consider a company selling multimillion dollar pieces of manufacturing equipment to their companies. This could include advanced robotics handling, complex optical and laser systems and hundreds of coordinated sensors and actuators. While some agility is possible, and beneficial, if I have an optical system with 12 month lead time that needs to integrate with the rest of the system, my requirements need to be pretty well locked in at some point. If we consider a pure SW offering, the intangible nature inherently means more flexibility to keep requirements soft and perform more continuous, and impactful, discovery further along the process. Services are similar but even more flexible as we can typically adopt the offering in a relatively short time if deemed necessary and relevant. Bottomline is that the type and complexity of our offering should be considered when designing our strategy and execution model.
