People are always looking for shortcuts to success. I can only talk about people in #web3. A lot of projects think, hiring SMMs or Community Managers will help them have blast of growth in just 2 months. Reality : Every product is different and so do their journey. It takes a few months even to a seasoned manager to experiment and understand the audience to target for that particular project. You don't sow seeds today and expect to reap the crop tomorrow. 🔑 Learn from mistakes 🔑 Have patience 🔑 Align your product with Customers 🔑 Improve your product 🔑 Be consistent 🔑Repeat

Where on earth are all the Flutter developers?! 😩 LinkedIn is the #1 platform for headhunting. True or false? Most people (especially lazy Recruiters) will tell you that’s true. (Lazy Recruiters also tell you the entire Flutter talent pool consists of the 146 candidates that pop up on their LinkedIn search.) But that’s not the case. It’s just that LinkedIn isn’t a mobile developer’s natural habitat. They might have an account, but they’re not visiting the site on a daily basis. They’re not looking at job ads, and your hyper-personalised InMail or connection request will probably go straight into their “other” folder - who looks in there? Instead, they’re busy chatting with other developers in private, invitation-only Discord and Matrix groups, amongst other places. I know this because, thanks to my 20+ years of networking and building tech teams, I’ve been invited into many of these groups. And the pool of world-class Flutter developers is much bigger than you think! So, if you’re struggling to find the right talent for your team, it doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t exist. We got +100 NPS for our recent SaaStock Founder Membership (SFM) retreat. Based on feedback and on reflection, here are a few reasons why: 1. Magic 🪄: We sourced a magical location in the Agafay Desert, Les Terrasses D'Agafay. It created the base for the first wow moment. Also as we were in the middle of the desert, it kept the group together (as no one could leave). 2. Grounding ⛺️: Glamping instead of 5* resorts. Kind of an unexpected one but a good learning. The previous retreats had been in 5* resorts which we could go to any time on holiday with family/friends. Glamping I think resulted in us feeling a bit more grounded which helped with the openness and transparency of the group. 3. Fire 🔥: We had a campfire which every evening created a central space for us to congregate and we ran roundtable discussions for the whole group with a level of transparency not seen before. 4: Ice 🧊: We broke the Ice the night before the retreat started with a dinner in Marrakech. Allowed everyone to connect and familiarise if they were new to the group. 5. Space 🛸: The agenda allowed for lots of space for people to just talk and relax 6: Power of 40 🔋: Not that one, but we cap the size at 40 people. Just the right amount for everyone to connect and bond. With this, i think we found the recipe for the perfect Founder retreat. Recently, I spoke with a friend who's excited about his new startup but is struggling with setting up his email strategy for cold outreach and customer engagement. Here’s your quick guide to mastering your startup’s email game from day one: 𝟭. 𝗘𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗽 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀: • 𝗧𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: From February 2024, you'll need DMARC, SPF, DKIM, and MX record set up to authenticate your emails and avoid spam folders. • 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Always obtain explicit consent to email and provide an easy opt-out to keep your list healthy. • 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Aim to keep your spam rate under 0.1% to ensure effective delivery. • 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗿𝘆𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Ensure all communications are encrypted to protect data and prevent breaches. 𝟮. Think transactional vs marketing emails. • 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Always use your business name to establish trust. • 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝘁-𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀: Engage users as they prefer and avoid over-sending to prevent permanent opt-outs. • 𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝗧𝗶𝗽: Platforms like Lemlist or Instantly.ai can streamline your cold outreach efforts. How does HockeyStack generate more revenue from their content than your brand does? Because of Hockeystack Labs insane only KPI (you’re going to want to read this)… Canberk Beker their head of growth set an internal KPI- We will come to this point where we won't be asking people to share reports, we won't give to influencers to share the reports, but they will do it organically. And after the fourth, maybe fifth report, it started happening. Here’s HockeyStack Labs Growth Loop: 1. HockeyStack Labs came out with a data report they thought was interesting and people liked it. 2. They told HockeyStack what else they wanted to hear, because they were getting a lot of value from it (and they weren’t getting it from anywhere else). They needed more to help them make smart business decisions. 3. HockeyStack encouraged them to start requesting topics they wanted data on and that they thought they could get even more value from. 4. HockeyStack listened to them and created reports based on a combo of most requested + what they thought would be most interesting internally. 5. Their audience got even more value and shared it on social media with their followers and gave feedback for the next reports. The loop just keeps going. Results: They are generating like 50% of our pipeline from this organically. We are actually talking about millions. And the interesting thing is that the pipeline comes from organic traffic. The website traffic has also increased by a lot. Super interesting 📣 : a list of well-known companies that successfully pivoted. Doing what you did in your early stage phase for too long will kill 💀 your startup. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲: In the early stage, you fuel hyper through acquisition. You rock a low CAC Payback and reinvest the $ in more growth. With scale, your ARR composition changes. Most of the ARR comes from existing customers. 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞: ARR = $100M ($50M New, $50M Existing) To maintain a 3X growth ($300M) on this composition through acquisition, you need to 5X your New ARR ($250M). It’s not doable, especially while maintaining a low CAC Payback. Hence, relying mainly on acquisition is no longer a viable option. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨? The game has changed. It’s about monetizing and expanding ($) your base (NRR / GRR). AND maintaining the efficient acquisition engine. You have to do both. How do you expand ($) your base? More value! The second product add-ons, new services, and additional monetization layers. Value! Value! Value! It’s a mindset and a strategy shift. People tend to keep doing what’s working. Surreal moment…… $60,000 deal for a company to use DealFuel for a mass hiring spree. This deal is significant in so many ways. 1. The biggest individual deal we’ve done since launching 5 months ago 2. The founder of the company : I used to watch this guy on Television with my uncle about 10 years ago. He has a pretty large business now but was a television personality. If I told myself 10 years ago this was going to happen I’d be pleased however not remotely surprised.
