Frankly I find ` OOPS generally excessively complicated . The simplest ` object is an " address space " an ordered list . I've commented to Alan Kay long ago , eg: https://lnkd.in/gTSi-fRy https://lnkd.in/gJiuCyFQ , that that what ` objects miss is the ` geometric attribute that APLs , including K , naturally retain . In CoSy.com , evolved from K as an open vocabulary in Forth , the 3 cell header for an ` object is simply `( Type Count refCount )` ( where ` refCount handles memory management , free on return to 0 ) . Upon that , any more complex Types can be constructed ` inheriting the entire general list manipulating vocabulary , again , evolved & greatly simplified from APL via K .

CoderSchool (IT W21) saved $1000+/mo by switching to Lark Suite from Google Workspace, but there's even something more mindblowing about Lark...are you ready for this 🤯? There is a 🧋 Milk Tea Group Order🧋template in their default gallery. In all seriousness, while I originally switched as a cost-savings measure, I'm finding Lark Suite surprisingly delightful to use. It's fast, fluid, and unlike the Google tools, all the tools work together seamlessly, centralized around a "chat-first" philosophy. If people are interested, or even if they're not, I'll continue posting about some of the steps involved in our migration from 9+ years on Google Workspace. It wasn't that hard, although we're not through all of it yet. I'd encourage all startups to take a look - Lark is free for up to 50 users, so most small co's can replace Gmail/Notion/Slack/Sheets/Airbase/Drive for $0/mo. And you can still keep "Sign in With Google" on your old domain. Thanks to Mark Dembitz for the presentation about Lark. I was lucky to be sitting front and center wearing my bright red CoderSchool T-Shirt while you had the slides about why red is a bad choice for a brand color.

GroupBy is now available in the Quix SDK! Go ahead and “pip install quixstreams==2.5.0” and try out`sdf.group_by()´. Docs here: https://lnkd.in/eVR6XdfR To recap, GroupBy enables you to seamlessly re-key your Kafka messages for advanced aggregations. It’s a Python equivalent to an SQL GroupBy but for real-time data. You can group by a column name, or provide a custom grouping function. It makes more complex operations a lot easier, such as stateful calculations that involve aggregations and windowing. For example, transforming retail data streams to get total quantities per item or per store in real-time. Give it a try!

In this talk, Julien Topçu stresses how essential it is to adapt models as our understanding of problems evolves. At the same time, "Team Topologies" highlights the limitations of traditional organizational charts in software development, pointing out that they can become barriers to innovation. Traditional organizational charts, designed for command and decision-making, do not accurately reflect the dynamic, real-world interactions required for agile, efficient software development. They can create silos that isolate teams, limiting their ability to collaborate and innovate fluidly and naturally. In the product discovery phase, interactions between teams are crucial, but must evolve towards a more organized structure to minimize superfluous and counter-productive exchanges. This evolution is vital for developing sustainable, scalable solutions within an agile framework, reflecting the close link between software architecture, particularly Bounded Contexts, and business organization. Thanks to these two examples, Team Toplogies and Model Mitosis, we can clearly see the need for alignment between Bounded Contexts and teams, which is at the heart of Domain Driven Design. Large companies seeking to innovate should consider these principles to transform their organizational structure, unleashing innovation potential often constrained by rigid models. At the React meetup earlier this week, there were two talks in French: Modal et Popover patterns and Routage Basé sur les Fichiers dans React-Native avec Expo Router The modal talk covered a topic that I wrote about within the last few months which is the accessibility of popup windows on websites. Some problems that can make popups inaccessible are the lack of focus on a button on the popup window when it is opened, being able to move the focus on HTML elements outside of the popup, and screen readers can still see HTML elements that are not a part of the popup. The speaker then presented several versions to address these problems. V1: Uses the package react-focus-lock V2: Used ARIA HTML attributes (aria-modal, aria-labelledby) but it was noted that some ARIA attributes are not supported by certain browsers V3: Used libraries such as Radix UI, React Aria, or Floating UI V4: Used the dialog HTML element V5: Used the popover HTML attribute The second talk was about the Expo Router which is a routing framework for React Native that uses files like in Next.js 14.
