3 years in notebooks. 3 years that really shaked me. Last week, I was telling my 8-year old daughter : “Enjoy your age, you are so lucky : every day, you learn and discover new things. This is a chance that does not last when you’re getting older” I was wrong : my experience at dsm- firmenich proves the contrary : out of my different professional experiences, no doubt this 3 year-journey is the most transformative one, the one where I’ve learnt the most. 🔹I’ve learnt what “stepping out your comfort zone” really means; and yet, I’ve lived 7 years in Russia 😊 🔸I’ve learnt patience by observing passionate teams working 3, if not 5 years, on a fragrance development before winning it. 🔹I’ve learnt what is true flexibility, adapting in an ever evolving structure & environment, driven by the obsession to best serve our client needs. 🔸I’ve learnt HOW TO WIN in BtoB. 🔹I’ve learnt how art & science can be so interdependent : the best of creation combined with the best of science to give birth to the most beautiful fragrances. The success of this campaign was definitely combining the 𝐎𝐎𝐇 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐡 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 at the Paris pop-up, along with social media and influencer campaigns. 𝐈𝐭 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 Yepoda, where everything came together perfectly! OOH might not give you instant metrics, but 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭. 100 days ago, I began my journey of living and working in France. Here are three (of many) things I experienced, appreciated and learnt: - Succesful mobility takes the effort of many parties. Yes, my company Parfums Christian Dior, sponsors and HR partners invested time, effort and money into moving me. And there was a lot of weight that I had to pull as well, from learning a new language and working in a different context to being open to flex to the French administration. - Sometimes navigating change can be disorientating and unexpected around the ‘little things’. One of my first hurdles was adapting to the French AZERTY keyboard. Not something one gets warned about! I felt as though I was a child again, learning how to type. It showed me how much of the way we work is done subconsciously and mostly taken for granted. Similarly, with finding polite conversational words that I don’t think twice about in English, like “no worries”. Thankfully I have understanding colleagues who are sharing a lot with me, even French slang! - To trust my gut. A lot of advice came my way, by people who meant well and cared. The many opinions of others can be inundating. But if there’s one thing I’ve not regretted, is to listen to my intuition. Because the responsibility and consequence of decisions will be mine to live with, and no better opportunity than this fresh start for me to craft the life that I would love here! 🌟Master's Thesis: Brand Survival in Cancel Culture✖️📣 Key insights from my recent master’s thesis, “Brand Survival in Cancel Culture: Strategies for Effective Brand Reputation Management,” completed as part of my Master's degree at ESCP Business School. In today’s digital era, cancel culture can reshape public discourse and consumer trust, making effective reputation management absolutely crucial for brands. 🙌🏻 🎯 **Key Findings:** 1. **Successful Strategies:** ✅ - Carefully consider the brand's legitimacy/credibility to comment & potential consequences to avoid exacerbating situations. - Issue sincere apologies when warranted to mitigate long-term damage and rebuild trust. - Maintain transparency about practices, processes, and decision-making. - Commit to ethical causes, diversity, inclusivity, and social/environmental causes for long-term credibility. - Find strategic resolutions to rebuild trust, such as ending partnerships conflicting with brand values. - Address controversies internally and immediately to align actions with values. - Remain agile and adaptable to pivot strategies in a dynamic digital landscape. 2. **No-Gos:**❌ - Defensive responses. - Insincere apologies or pushing blame. - Lack of tangible actions, which can trigger prolonged backlash and damage trust, making recovery harder. 🛠️ **Methodology:** - Mixed-method approach combining qualitative analysis of real-life brand cancellations and interviews with industry professionals, including brand communication managers and company leaders. 💡 **Final Thoughts:** An effective strategy can help brands mitigate reputational damage, protect sales and profitability, and ensure sustained brand success. 🫶🏻 🙏 **Acknowledgements:** I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who contributed to this research. The French #cosmetics giant reported sales of 11.24 billion euros for the first three months to the end of March, up 8.3% on a reported basis. Sales in both North America and Europe grew by more than 12%, as its mass market range and dermatological products compensated for weakness in the #luxury segment.
