🇺🇲US expansion: Go all in or don’t go at all A US expansion can be tempting for European scale-ups, for understandable reasons. It’s a large, unified market with customers that often adopt new technologies quickly and investors with big checkbooks. However, many European scale-ups fail to commit fully enough to gain a foothold in what is not only a very large but a very competitive and culturally different market. You have to keep in mind: No, it's not easy to expand to the US! Yes, it's very expensive --> you need very, very, very deep pockets! Yes, it can break your company! European scale-ups planning a US launch would do well to gather three critical components beforehand: 1️⃣ A significant American investor, or a customer that can act as a true partner, helping to navigate local dynamics or regulations. 2️⃣ An expansion playbook that has been thoroughly battle-tested in other markets. 3️⃣ A commitment from a top leader (such as a founder or CEO) to relocate to the United States for several years to oversee the business and signal commitment to customers, suppliers, and staff. What do you think? Do you agree? Are you interested in information and tips on European for start-ups and scale-ups? Then follow us!

"We need to find someone in our team to lead international expansion." Andrea recently spoke with the founding and management team of a scaleup thinking about international expansion. Guess what? No one wanted to take on the project. 🤔 Here’s the truth: International expansion isn’t just about scaling—it’s a defining moment for your company. It sets the stage for sustainable growth and positions you to compete globally. For founders, stepping into this role isn’t just a responsibility—it’s a chance to grow alongside your business, push your leadership to new heights, and create an international brand. 🌍 So, if you’re hesitating to take the leap, remember: no one will fight for your vision like you will. What’s holding you back? 🚀 Skip through the slider to find out more.

When expanding internationally, it sometimes feels like this... 🤔 CEOs, CSOs, CMOs, and Country Managers – all pointing at each other, wondering who's responsible for what when entering a new market! But here’s the reality: successful international expansion requires each role to play to its strengths while staying in sync: 🕸️ CEOs set the vision but stay flexible to adapt to local nuances. 🕸️ CSOs map the strategy, focusing on each market’s unique challenges and opportunities. 🕸️ CMOs tailor the messaging so the brand feels authentic globally yet relevant locally. 🕸️ Country Managers bridge HQ and local teams, ensuring execution matches the strategy. It might feel like we're all pointing fingers, but when each role aligns, that’s where the magic of international growth happens! 🌍 #InternationalExpansion #StartupJourney #CEOs #CSOs #CMOs #CountryManagers

📢 Why do companies systematically underestimate the challenges of expanding internationally? It’s a question we get asked often, and our answer is simple but profound: 💫 experience is the best teacher. 💫 Entrepreneurs are resilient, resourceful, and often thrive under uncertainty. They’ve built their success by navigating tough challenges and relying on their own capabilities. It’s natural for them to think they can handle it all — and often, they can. 👉 But international expansion is a different game. It requires not just grit but also a keen awareness of the time, effort, and nuanced expertise it demands. The rules change, the stakes are higher, and preparation is everything. If you're contemplating European expansion, don’t go it alone. Learn from those who’ve walked the path, seek guidance, and prepare for the unexpected. Because while experience is invaluable, it doesn’t always need to be your own. 💡 #InternationalExpansion #EuropeanExpansion #Entrepreneurship #GoToGermany
