At Royal Canin, we are dedicated to empowering the next generation of veterinary professionals to thrive. That’s why we recently hosted the Asia Pacific Resident's Day in Sydney in collaboration with SASH - the Small Animal Specialist Hospital, Australia’s largest veterinary specialty network. Led by our very own Dr. Lara Fossati, in partnership with Dr. Julie Summerfield and our Australian team, the event brought together 23 residents from SASH hospitals, representing various disciplines and stages of their residency. Renowned specialists delivered engaging sessions on scientific writing, time management, and animal ethics, alongside a breathwork workshop focused on mental health - covering essential topics for professional growth. Among the speakers was Dr. Nick Cave, who shared: “I found the participants intensely engaged, focused, and hungry for knowledge. They enjoyed the opportunities for active participation and left invigorated with practical tips and actionable techniques.”   We understand the challenges of becoming a veterinary specialist today and remain committed to supporting these professionals. By fostering shared experiences, offering mentorship, and creating opportunities for skill development, we’re honored to help shape the future of veterinary medicine. #RoyalCanin #ABetterWorldForPets #VeterinaryMedicine

One step closer to preventing unethical breeding and extreme conformation! A few weeks ago, we hosted a roundtable focused on the issue of unethical breeding and extreme conformation in cats and dogs - a crucial part of our commitment to prioritizing pet health and well-being. Representatives from international organizations, including the WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association), Royal Veterinary College, International Collaborative on Extreme Conformation, FOUR PAWS, and Fédération Cynologique Internationale, joined us to discuss actionable strategies. These organizations have been actively working to reduce unethical breeding and extreme conformation. The roundtable provided a vital opportunity to align efforts, expand initiatives, and drive global progress on this agenda. We look forward to sharing the impactful next steps from this collective commitment to change. Stay tuned! #RoyalCanin #ChooseHealth #ABetterWorldForPets

From waste to wonder: at Royal Canin, we care not only for pets but also for people and the planet. Ever wondered what happens to the organic waste from our headquarters canteen? Or the waste from the hundreds of coffees our Associates enjoy every day? The answer: we don’t throw it away. Instead, we transform it. Today, we're excited to introduce you to Bokaworm, a project that demonstrates our commitment to circular economy practices. Through an Asian-inspired technique, we convert organic waste, coffee grounds, and pet waste into high-quality humus in just six weeks. This process not only reduces waste but also regenerates soil, stores carbon, and supports a healthier environment. With this innovation, we’ll recycle wastes into a sanitized and highly nourishing vermicompost with water storage properties, enabling healthier plant and crop development, while storing more carbon. This World Soil Day, we celebrate the vital role of healthy soil in creating a healthier planet for pets and people! At Royal Canin, we’re proud to partner with organizations worldwide to help advance regenerative agriculture. In the US, we’re collaborating with ADM, Riceland Foods, and Soil and Water Outcomes Fund to support farmers transitioning to regenerative practices, reducing GHG emissions, improving water quality, and promoting biodiversity. In China, we’ve teamed up with The Nature Conservancy on a wheat project to help enhance soil health and reduce carbon emissions. Meanwhile, in Europe, we’re scaling regenerative farming with Soil Capital, helping farmers transition sustainably and build climate resilience. By fostering sustainable farming, we help lower our environmental impact and offer eco-friendly choices for pet owners. Healthy soil is essential to a greener future. Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a moment to also reflect on the many disabilities that are not immediately visible, such as hearing loss. Did you know this condition currently affects 5% of the global population, which means approximately 430 million people? For those affected, pets can significantly improve their quality of life. Hearing dogs play a vital role, becoming the ears of their beneficiaries. They alert their owners to important sounds like ringing phones, alarm clocks, and crying babies. These incredible dogs also enhance safety by signaling fire alarms, guiding their owners across pedestrian crossings, and even helping with balance issues. Training a hearing dog is an intensive 24-month process, but their impact extends far beyond practical assistance. They provide emotional support, unconditional love, and help foster social connections. Isn’t that incredible? Since 2010, the association Les chiens du silence in France has been training these remarkable dogs. The Royal Canin Foundation is proud to support its mission, aiming to train and place 12 hearing dogs by 2025. At Royal Canin, we’re embracing the future of more sustainable pet nutrition, powered by the incredible potential of microalgae. In response to marine ecosystems' challenges, we’ve implemented an innovative strategy led by our Global Materials Innovation Manager, Taoufiq Errafi. His team is progressively replacing part of the fish oil used in some of our products with microalgae. This shift not only helps preserve marine ecosystems but also helps reduce our overall environmental impact. Taoufiq's initiatives exemplify how our Associates across Mars are actively tackling climate change and supporting the company’s Net Zero Roadmap 2050. His approach has already saved a billion individual anchovies this year alone, showcasing our commitment to a healthier planet. Pets truly make our lives better, and today is a special day to celebrate this connection: Happy Human-Animal Bond Day! Cats and dogs have an incredible impact on our lives, bringing us joy and comfort every day. Studies from the Waltham Petcare Science Institute highlight the powerful mental health benefits of pet companionship. Did you know, for example, that spending time with cats and dogs boosts our "happiness hormones" like oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin, while lowering cortisol, our stress hormone? For children, interacting with pets can elevate joy, and for adults, having a pet has been shown to ease symptoms of depression. The Royal Canin Foundation is committed to promoting these benefits through meaningful projects. Since 2020, they have supported 20 initiatives across 15 countries, positively impacting over 9,000 people with the help of 300 dedicated cats and dogs. In France, Legal Assistance Dogs provide emotional support to vulnerable individuals in legal proceedings; in Italy, therapy cats bring comfort to children in hospitals; and in Ukraine, specially trained dogs offer crucial support to those affected by the war at Dog-Assisted Therapy Centers. Learn more about the Royal Canin Foundation and its important work at: https://lnkd.in/gQ9Nrraf. Farmers are key partners on our journey to a more sustainable world! We were honored to attend the 13th World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit in London from September 30 to October 1, where innovation and transformative business models took center stage. This year’s summit underscored the essential role of supply chain partnerships in fostering climate-resilient agriculture. Our very own Luc Beerens shared our efforts to help advance the regenerative agriculture transition. During a panel with industry experts, he highlighted the shift from traditional agricultural practices to regenerative methods that support farmers in enhancing soil health, biodiversity, carbon management, and climate resilience. At Royal Canin and Mars, we recognize farmers as indispensable partners in this journey, as their efforts in regenerative practices contribute significantly to building inclusive, resilient supply chains and driving a more sustainable future for agriculture. These regenerative approaches align with sustainable development goals by promoting healthier ecosystems and reducing environmental impact.
