Why MAIF International? Nowadays, people are buying less, sharing more, renting more, subscribing more. Business models like Netflix, AirBnb or BlaBlaCar have transformed our economy forever. Consumption patterns are changing and there is a fundamental trend with the shift from an ownership to a usage-based economy. These changes are opening up a field of opportunities for new players in emerging and growing markets. This shift from ownership to usage-based economy also impacts the way these services are insured. In this context, we see that insurance is becoming a cornerstone of the business models of these platforms, to the extent that they simply cannot operate without suitable insurance solutions to cover their users. As a result, these platforms have a real need to understand the risks in order to better manage the performance of their programs, which will maximize their ability to sustain their activities. On the other side of the spectrum, these new trends are generating new business opportunities for insurers who are seeing their historical markets crumble. In this context, a good understanding of these new business models and the way in which they can be insured is a major stake for anyone wishing to position itself on these markets over the long term. Maif International is positioned at the crossroads of these issues and needs with a value proposal that links all these actors. MAIF International is a pan-european one-stop-shop that offers tailor-made solutions to improve and drive the performance of your insurance programs, whether you are an insurer or a platform.

Micromobility is Growing: Are Authorities Keeping Pace?🚀 Market Size 📊🌍 The global micromobility market is experiencing exponential growth, projected to reach $340 billion by 2035, according to a McKinsey & Company report. This expansion is fueled by the increasing adoption of micromobility solutions, including e-bikes and e-scooters, worldwide. (A year of electric vehicle and mobility trends | McKinsey) Market Dynamics 💸🌟 Micromobility operators continue to raise significant funds to support their growth and expansion. Voi Technology recently raised $25 million, bringing its total funding to $540.6 million while gaining traction in new cities. 🚲💰 Lime is investing $55 million to grow its fleet by 30,000 bikes, having already surpassed 150 million total rides. Market consolidation is strengthening around major players. TIER Mobility and Dott, following their merger in 2024, will deploy 15,000 e-bikes across Paris to accommodate the 15 million visitors expected for the 2024 Olympic Games. 🛵🤝 Cooltra and felyx, after Cooltra's acquisition of Cityscoot, have joined forces to dominate Europe's shared moped market. 🔄🛵 Zeus Scooters | 2024 Innovator of the Year | 2024 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist Scooter has also bolstered its market presence by acquiring another Irish micromobility supplier, Zipp Mobility. Regulations and Limitations 🚫🛴💶 As the micromobility market grows, regulations are being implemented to ensure the safety and management of these new transport solutions. In Ireland, new regulations now allow the use of private e-scooters, with speed limits capped at 20 km/h on public roads. 🚦🛴 However, some regulations can also limit expansion. In Malta, the government has banned rental e-kick scooters due to safety issues, offering a €150 grant for buyers as a countermeasure. ⚖️🛴👍 The Brussels court recently ruled in favor of micromobility operators Lime and Voi Technology after they challenged a city plan to reduce the number of e-scooters in operation. A legitimate question arises: is there a gap between changes in mobility usage and a regulatory framework that is struggling to adapt by being far too restrictive? Are cities compensating for their lag in managing the supply of micromobility solutions by curtailing their expansion, as Paris has done by deciding to ban electric scooters? Join the conversation! 🚀 Comment below with your thoughts on the future of micromobility. 💬

How are car subscription platforms changing the European automotive landscape? 🚀 The car subscription, which means subscribing to a monthly car package where everything is included in the price, is becoming an increasingly popular way to consume mobility. What are the consequences for the market and its traditional players? What are the implications for the market? The automotive market has evolved on three levels : 1. Platforms specialized in providing multi-brand car subscriptions have emerged and experienced strong growth. These include ViveLaCar, Bipi - Car Subscription and FINN, which centralize several services in a single contract, based on multiple partnerships with service providers. 2. Faced with the arrival of several pure players, the response of major automotive groups eager to explore this new model has taken two forms: 🆕 The creation of subsidiaries dedicated to new forms of mobility, including car subscription, enabling them to absorb innovative devices and create satellites (Renault Group & Mobilize, Stellantis & Free2move). 🤝 Strategic partnerships with pure players in the car subscription market to offer single-brand subscription packages. 3. New manufacturers have entered the electric vehicle market and based their distribution strategy on subscription. ❌ Insurance as a major challenge ? 😰This new way of owning a vehicle represents a new kind of risk, one which insurers are still largely unaware of. There is often a lack of transparency between the actual driver's profile and the insurer, which can increase the cost of insurance and weighs on the overall subscription price. One of the other disadvantages of an all-inclusive car package, in which the vehicle owner is the underwriter of the insurance contract, is that he or she takes less care of the vehicle mais aussi that claims are not made throughout the rental period, forcing operators to declare a single claim for all the damage sustained by the vehicle. The process of inspecting the vehicle at the start and end of the rental period also needs to be rethought, to make the relationship between platforms and insurers more fluid. What are the solutions for bringing together insurers and the auto subscription industry? 💡 At Maif International, we are aware of these difficulties, and we put our actuarial expertise, our IT tools and our knowledge of new forms of mobility at the service of our insurance partners, in order to work with them to calculate a suitable cost of insurance. This new way of constructing insurance products and standardizing their management across several countries enables us to offer car subscription players solutions that do not undermine the competitiveness of their offers across Europe and to monitor the claims handling process and the car usage as well through the telematics solutions. Any thoughts ? Let's share it with us in the comments section !

Micromobility in Europe: The Big Five is everywhere...or almost! As we all know, the micromobility market is in a phase of consolidation. Its evolution was recently marked by the Dott-TIER Mobility merger and a resounding new fund-raising by Voi Technology. By taking a geographical approach, counting the number of European cities where these players are present, we offer an overview of the operating areas of the 5 giants of free-floating soft mobility (one of whom is our customer ❤️), highlighting the density of their presence. The results are clear: 🥇 Dott-TIER Mobility seems to be the player with the highest density of activity in Europe. 🛴 Germany is Europe's leading micromobility country. 🆕 -Poland has all the potential of a new giant. 🚀 Everything remains to be done in Southern Europe, notably in Spain and France. This situation can be explained in several ways: 🚦 Limitations on the number of operators per city in some southern European countries. ❌ The ban on certain shared mobility services (Paris), 🌍 Mobility habits that vary from region to region. How will Dott-TIER Mobility capitalize on its merger? How will Voi Technology pursue its development after prioritizing its costs? How will Bolt and Lime position themselves to meet all these challenges? To be continued... ⌛ Any thoughts?
