#Circularity is our future. 🌱Our economic model is linear: we take, make, waste. Circularity is a shift to a regenerative model where materials are safely returned to the earth. Circularity helps us transition towards #naturepositivity. 💻𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 are essential in this transformation. From AI-powered supply chain optimisation to blockchain tracking of materials lifecycles, tech is breaking through the circularity challenge. 💡To help the transition to a circular model, we researched and analysed solutions that provide: 1. Value chain 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 2. Product 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝘂𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 to enable product as a service 3. AI and proprietary algorithms to h𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 4. IoT based data models for 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 5. Resale platforms to 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 6. AI-based predictive models & IoT to optimise 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 🔎 We picked 6 key players representative of the 6 categories above. 🚨 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝟗 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬: 𝐀 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠?🌱 The once-celebrated Article 9 funds, hailed as the pinnacle of sustainable investing under the SFDR framework, are facing an alarming trend: €𝟔.𝟐 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐐𝟐 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞. This marks the third consecutive gloomy quarter for these funds. While fixed income is holding the line, the overall outlook raises tough questions for the future of ESG and impact-focused investments. Why is this happening? 1️⃣ 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: Only 𝟐𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝟗 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 can concretely demonstrate their contributions to social or environmental outcomes, despite 𝟕𝟐% 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬. 2️⃣ 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐞𝐬: Article 9 funds are mired in unclear classifications and have been misused as marketing labels, eroding investor confidence. 3️⃣ 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐬: The persistent myth that "impact equals compromise" is being debunked—impact funds show 𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 and strong diversification potential, though they often trail in absolute returns. 💡 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬: Real change requires a pivot from surface-level compliance to 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Impact funds must embrace hands-on strategies: - Helping investees integrate and measure social and environmental outcomes. - Embedding impact-driven clauses and governance processes at the fund level. - Building collaborative ecosystems to amplify results. At Impact Labs, we guide investors toward designing 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 that go beyond checkboxes, delivering measurable outcomes AND resilient returns. Let’s cut through the noise and rebuild confidence in sustainable investing. 🌍 📖 Read our full analysis here: https://lnkd.in/dhQupFjs #SustainableInvesting #ImpactInvesting #Article9 #ESG

Climate Activist veteran Al Gore and Climate TRACE at #COP29 in #Baku: "93% of #GlobalWarming is absorbed by the Oceans [...]. Astonshingly, half of this increase [in temperature] has been in the last 20 years. And if we don't do something, then this will double again. And the consequences are completely unacceptable. We have to face up to this!" Let's keep up the fight despite another deceiving COP. The solutions are in the economy. In businesses. In YOUR business. We'll go back soon to the vital role of the oceans in our next #RebootBusiness episode to come this week, with the great Julien Devaureix. #COP29 #naturepositivebusiness #whatarewewaitingfor
In Azerbaijan last week, Climate TRACE co-founders Al Gore and Gavin McCormick shared the COP29 stage and highlighted critical findings from our latest data release. In Al Gore’s opening remarks, he highlighted a collection of recent and tragic climate-fueled natural disasters and asked the question, “when will we decide that we don’t want to keep paying to clean up and try to heal the consequences and deal with the causes instead?” As COP29 comes to a close — and as 2024 shapes up to be the hottest and highest-emitting year on record — we invite you to take note of the many opportunities available to reduce emissions at scale. 🧪 IMPACT LABS.earth is proud to support BIOMANITY in their mission to create a more sustainable future through green chemistry. 👏 BIOMANITY is the first start-up who designed and developed a bio-sourced and biodegradable "Super Absorbant Polymer" (#SAP). Agriculture, Cosmetics, diaries, chemical industries.. SAPs are to be found in multiple sectors to better manage water. Biomanity's revolutionary innovation still allows to considerably reduce water consumption (50% for agriculture!), but without using petrochemical SAP that are pretty bad for the environment. 👩🔬 👩💻 We've worked closely with the BIOMANITY teams to develop a comprehensive impact roadmap, including a simplified #LifeCycleAnalysis (LCA) and a detailed impact plan with projections. This not only helps them achieve their ambitious growth goals but also position themselves as leaders in the industry. 🙏 Thanks for your trust Bernard Gainnier, Jean-François DANIEL and Ghislain David!
