The Platform brought together EU institutions, national governments, local authorities, social partners, and civil society organizations working to address homelessness and housing exclusion. The meeting's agenda was packed with key discussions, including: • Eurostat's analysis of new data on housing difficulties and the status of the European Homelessness Count pilot project • A showcase of inspiring EU-funded social innovation projects tackling homelessness, and the sharing of best practices through EPOCH Practice • Collaboration with the CEB - Council of Europe Development Bank to promote access to finance Check the Toolkit here → https://lnkd.in/eBAq6-dN #EndHomelessness

📣 “The CEB is committed to advancing rights-based development that aligns environmental protection with social inclusion” stated Vice-Governor Tomas Bocek Monday during the Council of Europe’s (COE) Ad hoc Multidisciplinary group on the Environment (GME), which will inform the COE’s Strategy on the Environment. He added that ”by focusing on vulnerable communities, promoting just transition and upholding robust safeguards, the CEB strives to ensure that no one is left behind.” ✔️ The CEB finances social investment projects, lending approximately €4 billion annually. In 2024, around 60% of the CEB operations were reported as having climate co-benefits, including climate change mitigation and adaptation. Climate change is also a cross-cutting theme in the CEB’s Strategic Framework 2023-2027. 🌳 During the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe in May 2023, the COE adopted the Reykjavik Declaration, which calls on the CEB to focus on the social dimensions of climate change and environmental degradation, ensuring a fair and inclusive transition. The recent joint conference of the Council of Europe and the CEB - Council of Europe Development Bank, supported by the European Commission's #InvestEU Advisory Hub, brought together key stakeholders to tackle one of Europe’s most pressing challenges: homelessness. 🏘️ CEB financing plays a vital role in supporting socially relevant projects that focus on housing needs. To maximise the impact of the Council of Europe, closer cooperation between the #CEB, the European Social Charter (ESC), regions, cities, and communities is essential. With homelessness nearly doubling in Europe since 2015, coordinated action is more urgent than ever. A rights-based approach, sustainable financing, and strengthened partnerships at all levels are key to ensuring everyone has access to safe and adequate housing.
