Don't major in a minor subject, I'm sure people have heard that before. Is the plan to go to grad school, law school, or medical school afterwards? That would make a difference in what you should choose. For everyone, however, I recommend learning business, computers, and a foreign language. Those will help people reach career goals, no matter what you focus on as a major.
-
Follow what your love doing, your passion and what you are good at. Skills are always transferable and as you work for many decades, enjoying what you do is important. You are not stick doing what you studied specifically if you choose to venture into other pathways. Your major is the foundation for which you can build on as you gain experience and additional skills.

The pivot of my career is, without a doubt, people. My passion lies in working with them, seeing them happy, helping them achieve goals, and overcoming barriers they thought impossible. My motivation comes from motivated, joyful, and united teams working together to achieve extraordinary results. I believe success is not individual but collective. Seeing people smile daily and their joy in reaching objectives deeply inspires me. For me, companies are made of people, and when they are aligned, happy, and focused on a common goal, results naturally follow. My career is driven by fulfilling the dreams of those around me — my teams or the company as a whole. By helping others achieve their goals, I achieve mine.

First, do your research. To make a choice, you need to gather information. What jobs seem fun and interesting? What are the tasks involved? Then, I usually recommend listing what you to love to do and learn about, and then checking what would fulfil you in a way that is relevant for you. For some people, it's about securing higher wages, for others it will be about prestige, or about making a difference. If unsure between two degrees, choose a broader degree (e.g. Management instead of Healthcare Management), or one that gives you a wealth of transferable skills .

If you are at the point of knowing what your career goals are, then selecting a major is easy. The difficult part will be selecting the right instructors and courses that will help you get your career goals quicker. Interesting question.

Selecting the right major stems from being a good Generalist for nearly a decade. Now you are a Smart Generalist and can even choose multiple majors for grad programme . You have become equipped, empowered and discreet in choosing your niche areas , that reward you immensely in future, satisfying your curiosity, passion and purpose in life.

I will see first of all the goal/s is/are result oriented, it's future value, and applicability, rather than having the emotional love towards it. You may have many goals that's not the point but Can you put all your energy, effort, time, and money at stake? And this varies from person to person. I may take a risk, others cannot or others can take the risks, I can not. Therefore one career goal selection criteria can not be same for everyone.
