Job Title: Production Supervisor (1st Shift) Division: Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI) FLSA: Non-Exempt Grade: 4 Job Status: Full Time Travel Required: 0-5% Revision Date: February 27, 2024 Reports To: Plant Manager PURPOSE OF POSITION Assist the Plant Manager by ensuring that the assigned production department(s) operates in the most efficient and safe manner through the proper utilization of assigned staffing, materials, equipment, and space.
The position is responsible for organizing all allocated resources to produce products according to the current schedule, emphasizing a commitment to safe working behaviors, and in accordance with the approved quality standard.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this position.
These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.
Other duties may be required and assigned.
More specifically, the employee owner will: Perform all activities in a manner that protects and promotes PPI’s management philosophy towards the health, safety and welfare of employees, the community and the environment.
Supervise production employees performing production operations.
Be knowledgeable regarding the employee handbook, safety manual, all rules, programs and procedures that pertain to production employees.
Responsible for orientation and on the job training of employees in the safe, efficient operation of equipment.
Instills good housekeeping of their immediate work area in all employees.
Responsible for maintaining staffing within the assigned department at authorized levels.
Re-assigns employees on 'down equipment' to eliminate unfavorable labor variances.
Observes production operation within their area of control to ascertain compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, production standards, and efficient operation of equipment: takes corrective action to eliminate any deviation.
Consults with employees regarding on-the-job problems to include low production, poor quality, poor attendance, tardiness, etc.
Documents any and all problems and provides action plans to the Plant Manager for disposition.
In case of emergency, direct employees to their assigned safe area.
Process all required forms in a timely manner for payroll and Human Resources (i.
e.
timecards, time off requests, corrective action forms, etc.
).
With the Plant Manager, study operation where cost standards are not being met to determine causes and apply corrective action.
Develop among the assigned employees, a consciousness for the need for teamwork to attain departmental and Plant objectives.
Work with the team on TWI , Accountability , Job Relations training and the documentation that goes along with it.

Knowledge and use of lean manufacturing techniques Proficient computer skills.
Know how to read a tape measure.
Ability to continually participate in additional training related to the job.
Regular, consistent attendance.
EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS High school diploma or a general education degree (GED); or One to three months related experience and/or training; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES With training, demonstrate the ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
Specific hearing abilities required for this job include the ability to hear equipment alarms and the ability to hear instructions from others.
ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY The noise level in the work environment is LOUD.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to toxic chemicals.
The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
Steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, welding coat and helmet.
Additionally, the employee will properly wear a seatbelt while operating a fork truck.
