I was upgrading my modules in the Daggerverse to Dagger v0.12 and figured I'd share a couple of things about upgrading Golang modules in this video. The intersection between speedcubers and neovim users is probably not that high, but there is atleast one in existance (yours truely), so here we are. I felt the pull of the lua language yet again and decided to create a small plugin for neovim. The usual problem of "what should the plugin do?" arose but I quickly fell upon something that I always have on my desk when I work: my cube. Everyone has seen one, but not a whole lot of people can solve them. To solve them you need to scramble them. This seems like a strange issue but when you solve the cube in less than 30 seconds you might need to scramble the cube quite a few times in each session. Hence this plugin, now I can get a scramble whenever I want by just pressing the appropriate key mapping in neovim. My personal best on the cube is 19.60 seconds. My best average of 5 (do 5 consecutive solves, remove the slowest and the fastest and average the rest) is 27.46 seconds. By no means great but decent for a hobbyist. As a reference the world record is 3.13s single solve and 4.48s average of 5. Ilya Sutskever has just launched a new AI venture called Safe Superintelligence (SSI), aimed at developing safe and powerful superintelligence. This comes one month after he left OpenAI. SSI is co-founded by Sutskever, former Y Combinator partner Daniel Gross, and ex-OpenAI engineer Daniel Levy. The sole focus of SSI is to create beneficial superintelligent AI, which Sutskever believes could emerge within a decade. SSI will be a pure research organization, insulated from short-term business pressures. #ai

After years of steady improvements, overall cloud API performance seems to have reached a ceiling. Today, on Nordic APIs, I looked into a new report from APIContext that found a measurable degradation in cloud latency. The research analyzed 650 million API calls to 1,000 APIs across 100 geographically diverse data centers, making it a good window into global API usage and cloud performance trends.
