📣 Stay informed with PopNAD’s latest insights and updates on Nordic ANDTG! This is our final news update before the holiday break. 🔹 The Swedish government is moving forward with a proposal to tighten requirements for party political lotteries. In the future, it will be clearer which party is behind the sales, and parties will have to pay gambling tax. 🔹 Every year, 2,500 Danes die from alcohol-related causes, yet alcohol advertising remains prevalent outdoors and on social media. A recent study by Alkohol & Samfund found that, in just one week, 30 Danish adults observed over 550 examples of alcohol marketing. 🔹 A Non Smoking Generation’s new report, based on a Novus survey, reveals that Sweden’s current regulation of tobacco and nicotine products is failing to protect children and young people. 🔹 A recent report by VATT Institute for Economic Research et al. examines the development of alcohol product sales and prices in Finland. After the alcohol law reform 2018, the sale of stronger alcohol in stores increased fivefold compared to previous sales at Alko. However, overall alcohol consumption did not increase. 🔹 Preliminary data from CAN - Centralförbundet för alkohol- och narkotikaupplysning shows that alcohol consumption in Sweden has decreased by about 10% over the past decade, measured in pure alcohol. 🔹 For more news in English, Finnish, and Scandinavian languages, along with useful resources, visit www.popnad.com 🔸 Upcoming on PopNAD: In the last article of the season, Maj Nygaard-Christensen, Birgitte Thylstrup and Esben Houborg explore the rising use of non-prescribed opioids among Danish youth, focusing on the pathways into and out of opioid use, barriers to treatment, and the urgent need for improved prevention and support strategies.

📣 Stay informed with PopNAD’s latest insights and updates on Nordic ANDTG! 🔹 The Danish government is allocating DKK 8 million for a pilot project to establish a safe drug consumption room exclusively for women in Copenhagen. The initiative aims to provide a secure and violence-free environment for women who use drugs. 🔹 The Council of the European Union has adopted a recommendation to reduce exposure to second-hand smoke and aerosols, supporting the goal of achieving a tobacco-free generation in Europe by 2040 under Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. 🔹 The 2024 national school survey by CAN - Centralförbundet för alkohol- och narkotikaupplysning highlights a continued increase in the use of snus and gambling among young people.
